San Francisco 49ers (official thread)

Well, despite another sloppy offensive performance, peppered with some huge plays, the Niners beat the Cards 32-20...was much closer than that score, though.

Somehow, despite a maddeningly inconsistent offense, and an injury plagued defense, this team is 4-2 and has outscored the last three opponents 101-34. Very manageable schedule the rest of the way, overall...but tough game in Tennessee next week followed by Jacksonville before a bye. Four of the next five on the road...that should tell where this team really is.

I think the 9ers just need to run the ball more. they looked great doing it on the dagger drive to end the game. gore/hunter and the oline is one of the best.
They need Kaep to be a better QB, plain and simple. The running game has been good at times, but too often defenses load the box because they don't fear the 49er passing game. They were able to burn AZ a couple of times with big pass plays today. Maybe that gives Kaep a little confidence going forward. That last drive, AZ finally started to respect the pass, and the Niner OL and RBs just wore them down.

yes, sophomore slumpish but not like RG3. he'll continue to improve. 9ers are loaded on O. need more simple plays for Kaep to complete with short routes.

I don't know so much that it's a sophomore slump so much as the league has adjusted to the pistol that they ran so well with him last year and the 49er receiver corp just isn't very good without Crabtree. Crabtree was by far his favorite receiver and it seems like nobody other than Vern Davis can get open with any consistency..

Championship-level defense, 3-13 offense. Some of it is the Carolina front-seven, but not that bad. Just a shit-show on offense against any team with a pulse. Their only hope is that Crabtree can come back strong and make a MAJOR difference, because this passing game is vintage Cleveland Clowns level bad. Kaepernick is neutred when you take away the read-option. He has the touch on most of his passes of Mitch Williams.
