San Francisco 49ers (official thread)

Sounds like a preseason game

Some other NFL team will pay him outrageous cash that scUM can't match. I'm not worried about that.

Aren't they pretty much even? I don't know what scUM is willing to spend, but the money is there... a few SEC schools may also be looking for a big name (LSU? Florida?) and they're willing to spend everything they've got. Then there's the Charlie Strong experiment.
I can't see Harbaugh wanting to recruit kids though -- moreover he might be toxic at dealing with kids, their parents, and all the glad-handing that goes with big time NCAA programs.

NFL coaching salaries are approaching 8 figures, and if Harbaugh becomes available, I wouldn't be surprised to see him push it there. If Dallas finally cuts their ginger coach lose, I'd be shocked if Jerah doesn't back up the Brink's truck if the Niners cut him loose. Not many, if any, college programs can match that. Plus, like you said, I can't see Harbaugh going back to recruiting 17-18 year old kids.

Seriously, where did this infatuation with Kaepernick come from?

He is not a Manning, he is a game-manager.
Game managers don't run like Kaepernick, and don't typically have his arm. Look at that screen play to Gore, not many, if any, QBs make that play. He's frustrating at times, but just as often spectacular. You have to take the good with the bad.

Much better second half. The Niners have typically done well with their backs against the wall, the D has done their part today, and without a couple of special teams gaffes, they win comfortably.
