S Vonn Bell (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I think the Bucks still have a great shot. The staff isn't all of the sudden offering a bunch of safties like they've been doing at OL and linebacker. They haven't even offered Redfield yet, which to me means they still feel pretty good about Bell, imo.

We were the best visit he had of the major schools when he toured in the spring. Then he camped at OSU in the summer and hasn't been back since. He has been to Bama a lot the past few months. Perhaps it's because OSU has been the leader all along. He knows Urban is a winner. He knows the depth chart at OSU is favorable. He has always loved UT but thinks he can do better and the only school that could challenge OSU is Bama. It's a closer trip and besides, they are certainly a fun team to watch these days as they try for 3 titles in 4 years. Perhaps Bama is the only team to knock us off the top spot and he hasn't needed to come back to know that. Call it a leap but that would be my thought process if I had a clear early leader. I hope that's been his process. Will find out soon enough.

I'd like our chances better if you put the Alabama elephant up.

I think they already have a bunch of good looking safeties in Thompson, Lee, Worley (STAR) and possibly Burrows. Bell would be cherry on the cake.

Vonn Bell: Decision could be near for 5-star safety
December 12, 2012, by Michael Carvell

Over the last few months, the recruiting process has taken a backseat to high school football for Vonn Bell, the 5-star safety from Ridgeland.

After Saturday, Bell will listen to the sales pitches and maybe visit his three finalists of Alabama, Ohio State and childhood favorite Tennessee. UGA was eliminated when Bell trimmed from seven to three schools.

?Nothing has changed with recruiting recently, and Vonn isn?t talking to anybody about it until after Saturday,? Ridgeland coach Mark Mariakis told the AJC.

?About halfway through our season, he cut it off to focus on our team, which we appreciated. It has worked out well for Vonn.

?After our season is over on Saturday, I think it will be soon that he will make his decision between those three schools.?

Bell has had a monster senior season for Ridgeland, and surprisingly probably made more of an impact on offense than defense: Bell has 136 total tackles on defense, while posting 1,039 yards and 21 total touchdowns on offense.

?He?s the most productive player I?ve ever coached,? Mariakis said. ?I don?t want to say best player, but he may be. I just don?t like using that phrase.

?We?ve had some really good players here. We?ve had six guys sign major D1 scholarships over the last five years, from Alabama to Oklahoma State. They were all great players at their positions. Vonn is that great player on both sides of the ball. He?s phenomenal on offense and defense.?

Bell sets date for official visit to OSU for Jan. 11. Meyer was reportedly with him in the locker room following Bell's team loss. Ibelieve there is real reason for optimism on this front.

Posted by someone on 11W's forum, which isn't one of their main guys.....

Please remember to post a source....
