S Orhian Johnson (official thread)

If Boucher passes on the ship, any chance we saw Orhian at QB come spring?

As a sidenote, if O.J. was on Michigan's roster, he'd have been their starting QB last year. Every time I re-watch his tape I'm more impressed with his QB ability.

Back in '06 people were saying that Lenix would be OSU's premier back despite him being recruited as a safety. Not gonna happen.

haha a little different, since Lenix never made it to the team.

Plenty of people have changed positions under JT, hence the Speed, Big Speed, and Power groups.

Reverse chronologically off the top of my head: Devon Torrance to WR, Curtis Terry to FB, Anthony Gonzales to WR, Brandon Smith to TE, Stan White to FB, and the list goes on and on.

Heck, if JT can switch a cornerback to linebacker, what can't he do successfully?

Lenix made it successfully to Cincy. Yet we don't hear his name called too often at RB.

Put me in the column of believing it when I see it.

Our best chance to see if he has been given a chance to play at QB will be in April.

Call it arrogance or apathy, but not even a big deal to me who our 3rd string is. At that point, it doesn't really matter.

Worry about it when the time comes.

Keep him in a spot where he can make a real impact, no need to waste time.

Remember the 6 P's of Planning. Prior Planning Prevents P[censored] Poor Performance. In other words, if there's a potential that Orhian would be needed at QB, have him take some snaps, sit in with the QBs on film days, and get the offense down from the QB position. THEN, if he's needed, he's not recalling his HS days when he drew plays in the dirt during the huddle. He'll have a working knowledge of the OSU offense! Hope he's not needed, but all of the coaches know what the attrition rate is for potential injuries, and he might be needed.

'Sides, he (or the kid from Dublin) played QB in HS, and showed some good athleticism, then he can at least do a Tom Matte (for some of you old-timers who remember the Colts vs. the Jets).

Johnson at CB?

Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball - Bucknuts.com

* We already talked about the lack of depth at cornerback and another player that could help in 2009 is Orhian Johnson. He was a quarterback/safety in high school, but corner is the position he will likely play at OSU. Johnson is very tall for a corner at 6-3 (190 pounds) but the coaches thought he performed well in practice last season. Maybe he grows into a safety, but Johnson is a corner for now and will get a chance to show what he can do in ?09.
