S Anderson Russell (official thread)

This isn't the place to discuss the merits of water, but let me make something very clear. There is nothing wrong with drinking distilled water! The lost minerals are easily obtained in just about any food you consume.

Normal day-to-day activity may be suitable for distilled water, but drinking distilled water exclusively during sustained heavy exercise is potentially dangerous and increases the risk of hyponatraemia (loss of blood sodium)...and it's not that you get minerals from food that you'd ordinarily get from regular water, it's that distilled water absorbs and flushes minerals and electrolytes.

Was watching some of the cincy game the other day and 100% was playing very well. You could tell he was coming into his own on the field. IMO the improvement of the safetys will improve our run defense more than the losses up front will hurt it.

Ohio State free safety Russell ready to reclaim starting role

Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus- He was a defensive back named Russell who blew out his knee as a redshirt freshman. In a cast for eight months after surgery, he took two years to fully recover, quit football in the process and came back to play only after his coaches begged him to return.

That was Kevin Russell more than 30 years ago.

His son, Ohio State starting free safety An derson Russell, hasn't faced anything close to that while re turning from the same in jury, a torn an terior cruciate ligament, which he suf fered as a redshirt freshman against Iowa last year.

"You kind of saw Anderson last year," said junior cornerback Malcolm Jenkins, Russell's roommate, "but he is going to have a huge season. Anderson will be one of the impact players this year."

Serious knee injury tests OSU safety's mettle

Anderson Russell has worked his way back from a torn ACL and rediscovered his kamikaze form.

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State safety Anderson Russell knows injuries from contact are commonplace in football, but he never dreamed he'd blow out his knee without a soul anywhere near him.
Russell was racing to the ball on a play against Iowa last year when he tore his right ACL, ending his season with eight games to go. Losing a productive starter was a setback for the Buckeyes, and it was especially traumatic for Anderson, who was staring at the prospect of a lengthy rehab.

OSU?s Russell feels like he never went away
Jim Naveau | [email protected] - 08.22.2007

COLUMBUS ? It left a mark. The childhood accident, that is.

Ohio State safety Anderson Russell has bounced back quickly from a knee injury that ended his season last year just four games after he had gotten into the starting lineup.

The signs that he had arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament are barely visible on his knee.

And all signs point to Russell reclaiming a starting spot when Ohio State opens against Youngstown State on Sept. 1.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Asked to predict a breakout player for Ohio State this season, Malcolm Jenkins didn't hesitate. "Well, y'all kind of saw Anderson last year, but he is going to have a huge season," he said. "Anderson will be one of the impact players this year."

From the YSU post-game presser:

REPORTER: Can you talk about Anderson Russell and just being back out on the field for the first time in a while and anything you saw in his face today?

COACH TRESSEL: I thought it was exciting getting him out there. I thought he did a good job on that kickoff return. I thought he might crease it at first. I'm sure the defense enjoyed having him flying around and all those things and we'll have to get him out on the Jugs machine, make some catches this week in practice, because I thought he could have had an interception there but it was wonderful having Anderson back.
