March 01, 2009 - Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett was arrested late Saturday night on a charge of public intoxication.

Mallett, expected to emerge as the Hogs' starting quarterback, is 20 years old. There is no word on how Houston Nutt will respond to this incident, though it's certainly not something he wanted to deal with as spring practice nears.

It's time for Nutt to pull finger and get on top of this.

With one Dick gone and the other never in before, a Mallett appeared to be his only option. Now, one too many drinks, his Mallet's in a box, and he can't rely on Youngblood to rise to the occasion. My guess is that he'll give Ryan a stiff talking to, but in the end he'll have to swallow hard and move on.

Once you accept Alzheimer's, life is a lot better.

I'm slapping down my $$ for a subscription to College Football Insider right now. They were first to jump on this story. Who would have thought Houston Nutt would end up back at Arkansas before the season even began?

Pity that poor schlub having left the beautiful confines of Ann Arbor for the 'lost-in-time' Arkansas, and having only 'Shiner' or 'Pearl lite' to drink. Pity the poor feller, as he had to drink soooooo many bottles/cans of that horse piss to become inebriated enough that the local gendarmes arrested him. Maybe it was a Razorback hazing that he was going through......

Gentle sirs, pity, not vituperation, is called for here. Or he could be celebrating so much for having left Meatchicken that he had one too many beers with his crawfish etouffe to control the heat.....who knows?

They woke up at College Football Insider. Looks like Nutt turned them down on coming back, they've changed the article to refer to Petrino now.

Insider? :slappy:

Next thing, they'll be telling us that that nice young man Woody Hayes is getting the boys ready for another run at the NC!

How dare you mention Shiner in the same sentence as Pearl. Shiner is a damn good beer (fan of the Bock, and some of their darker offerings myself) and a thousand leaps better than the pathetic excuse for beer consumed en-mass by 90% of Mallet's demographic.

Oh...and Go Bucks!
