rumor central and the cbj

I don't know if they should get rid of Foote, one of their grittiest players. When he was in Colorado he was well respected and a leader even with all those stars around him.

Is he losing a step or getting old?

yes and yes.

that being siad hes 36 years old with 15 seasons under his belt, he logs heavy minutes against the top lines. reality is no hes not as good as he was at 30. but he is one of the few players that i think plays a similar role to what he played at 30. you saw what he had against atlanta and that lineup this week.

footer isnt going to score, hes going to beat and pound you. i think people think he looks slow because hes hardly in a hurry and its almost always in the right spot. its odd but hes had a handful of goals go in off him this year and hes taken some beef for that, result of good positioning and making players pay the price in front of the net.

that being said im baised, adam is a great person and great for the community. hes a warrior, a charecter guy and id be hard stretched to find something bad to say about him.

that being said, he logs to many minutes, probably on most teams hed be down a pairing and this conversation woudl be occuring but on a much much lesser level. who is the best dman on this team? id probably say with a one point lead and 40 seconds left faceoff in the defensive zone i wont footer on the ice. thats how i define it...

its open for debate and others should chime in

Dispatch's Rumblings

For whatever they are worth:

Though Adam Foote's name surfaced in stories in the New York papers about a possible trade between the Rangers and the Blue Jackets, his inclusion seems unlikely.
In the near future, maybe as soon as next week, Blue Jackets officials plan to start talking to Foote about a contract extension. Because of his age (36), they probably would be interested in only one or two years, and they likely will offer much less than the $4.6 million annual salary he's making now.

Is he getting old(er)? Certainly, but he'd be welcome on just about every NHL team in the league including Detroit at this point (I think he skates well enough for Detroit to take a shot at him theoretically at least).....

Does he have the same skill set? no, but what columbus needs is a steady hand on the blue line and Footer and Klesla are that steady influence.

IMO Foote isn't even the same player he was two years ago. He really seems to be struggling at times. No question he's a leader, but he's not getting it done on the ice. At least to my untrained eye.

Well he has struggled at times, but he's always up against the #1 line of the other team and some very talented players.

How could the CBJ be in the playoffs with a win tonighht with only 54 points. Am I missing something because there are a few teams above us in points right now that should get the wild card spot I would Imagine

Malik's locker is empty. Hasn't been sent through waivers, so he isn't being sent down. Rangers management says it is an "internal" issue. No clue what that means.

Read that the Wings might be looking at acquiring Rob Blake from the Kings. Great, just what they need, another good offensive d-man. Hope that falls through.

voters for the nhl mvp award include:
usa today
canadian press
detroit free press
la times
espn.com-scott burnside, who i tossed an email to asking who he voted for, no response. (interesting story there too)
balloting was done by email, all voters were in phillips arena.

colin campbell, cheif of hockey operations, father of the red head dman from the sabres that made the all star team, shaped the all star rosters. he used gms and operations staff to put together the rosters, the process is truely a mystery, campbell is in theory the man who is the supposed decider,

criteria
-all clubs should be represented
-cup champs well represented
-teams who are doing well represented
-favorism towards year in year out all stars

campbell thinks if pazzy is really as good then he will be here next year.

campbell "i hope he faces us...i hope he sticks it to us by winning the cup...thats what the league and the franchise needs, a facial"

rick nash-i want to make my city proud, columbus deserves it, they dont get the recognition they deserve, its a great hockey town, great fans, even better people (paraphrasing)

more than one national and canadian press members-the league doesnt want two guys from columbus and thats a good thing, they dont deserve it.

someone in the league-who cares, its not a real franchise. the joke is that wed discuss such a joke...

ive got more and worse, ill stop there
