Not trying to be a doodoo head, but how's that QB acumen worked out the past two years? He did great with Fields (and largely Urban roster), pretty good with Stroud. Since? McCord was okay and he utterly failed to have a backup ready to play the bowl game. This year he went out and got a somewhat flawed veteran and we saw the warts today. Not sure what exactly to expect from the position going forward, to be honest.
I look at it like this: he’s had Fields, Stroud, MHJr, Wilson, Olave, JSN and more.

Is it reasonable to expect that he(or anyone) can ever recruit enough talent to win if he couldn’t win with them?

Shit, it's not even the talent HE has. He couldn't beat THAT tCun team? That's a mediocre team further depleted by missing two of their best players. With a walk on QB? The worst tOSU team of the last 20 years should be able to beat that team.

This is by far worse than any of the Cooper losses. 95 & 96 were unforgivable but those were still good scUM teams that just underachieved. This scUM team bumbled into 6 wins heading into this game and they were reasonably lucky not to be 4-7 heading into the game. They will likely get smoked by some SEC chump in their bowl game.

Check my math but he’s what?
1-4 vs tsun
1-3 CFP (and counting)
1-1 NY6/Bowls

What are we afraid of again? Being able to find a coach that can win 1/3 of these kind of games?
We are afraid of being FSU. This isn't a binary choice. Our options aren't ONLY stay the same or do better. Things can get a lot worse and acknowledging that fact should be a factor in this entire equation.

Not saying we need to keep Day, but we need to be sure it's an upgrade.

There is no way to guarantee a better replacement. It’s a possible condition of the choice.

Stand or hit are your two choices. What happens when you hit isn’t totally in your control so it isn’t an option. It’s a result.

You can do your homework and prepare the best you can but you can’t “choose” an upgrade.

Day is fine if you want to minimize the rivalry.
Unfortunately, the current landscape of College Football is already doing that. Look at it this way.....Even after yesterday TCUN is still going to the "Who Gives a Fuck" Bowl and the Buckeyes are headed to the CFP with ( technically) a chance to still win a Natty. Under the current B1G format, OSU could play scUM two weeks in a row with the possibility of meeting a third time in the playoff. ( unlikely but possible). The Game has already lost it's importance and been minimized. That really sucks for us older fans who still believe in the history and traditions of the greatest rivalry in sports, but the reality is that other than bragging rights, The Game just doesn't have the same meaning. I fully expect to see the conference move it to earlier in the season in the next few years.

Exactly.

Honest question, would you rather have Michigan's season or OSUs right now?

Still coming to grips with that realization. If Day stays as coach, moving it earlier in the year would be a positive.

As much as reality sucks, I don't know that I'll ever be able to come to grips with it. I'm a 3rd generation Buckeye in my late 60s. When I was a little kid my Grandfather would tell me stories about seeing Chic Harley play. My parents both went to OSU as did my older sister and all her children. My Freshman year was Woody's last year. ( unfortunately life got in the way and it was my only year there......one of the greatest regrets of my life) Both of my sons are OSU grads and my oldest grandson will be going to OSU next year. I was born with Scarlet and Gray blood and have lived it every day of my life. The Rivalry is is ingrained in to every fiber of my soul. My hatred for TCUN is pure and righteous. Even though I know that CFB is a different game than the one I grew up with, I just can't bring myself to face the fact that The Game is really just another game now. That's very depressing to me.

Neither. Why would those be our only options? Where is all this fear of change coming from? Ohio State is the most consistent blue blood in cfb history. We're not some up-start program built by Day. We can and have done better than Day. Btw, there is still risk keeping Day too. Even these underwhelming 10-11 win seasons built on hollow wins aren't guaranteed to continue with him. Truly baffled at the contingent of fans that think the program is in an acceptable state after yesterday. That was the final straw

That’s a great point. What happens if we play ttun three times in one season? Are we happy if we win the first two but lose the third? Win only the first one? Lose the first two but win the third? I’m not going to ask about winning all three;-)

Or, would we be happy to be in ttun’s position now? No CFP, low level bowl game but have another win in The Game.

I get your point about the cfb landscape somewhat diminishing the rivalry. But after watching the chaos unfold on the field yesterday in person, I respectfully disagree with it losing its meaning. Every last Buckeye left in the stands waiting to exit their respective sections was incensed at watching that fat tcun player make a bee line toward the 50 yard line with that ugly flag. So much so that it caught the OSU players’ attention as they were lining up for the singing of Carmen Ohio with their backs mostly to what was happening behind them. We were hollering at the tops of our lungs and once we saw our Buckeyes break ranks and rush midfield we all cheered with an immediate sense of relief that dignity will be salvaged. We ALL wanted to rush the field with them and defend their honor in that moment. Even my fiancé said she was ready to fight. And that’s totally out of character for her lol It was as intense and emotional as I’ve ever seen a gathering of OSU fans. There were enough tears and high fives going around to tell me that this rivalry is as important as it will ever be to the ones it should matter to. The team, the school, and the fans.

Is he really? He’s not been good in big games period. He beats Penn State but James Franklin is their coach so that means nothing to me. Day might get you 10-11 wins a year but he hasn’t exactly shown he’s gonna be anywhere near capable of beating 4 higher level teams to win a national title
