Rose Bowl - USC 32, Michigan 18 (FINAL)

Yeah I do since you left out the most important part of the quote and since this is the Rose Bowl thread.
that it would be a "whale of a game" was the most important part of that post? between that and declaring that the fiesta and rose bowls will "pretty much" determine the pecking order, you should call yourself captain obvious.

I don't know how anyone with an ounce of scarlet and gray in them can root for scUM and crybaby Mike Hart. Fight On, SC!
there is a difference between rooting for m*ch*gan to win and wanting m*ch*gan to win. i will not root for m*ch*gan. that is, i will not cheer for them. however, i will still want for the skunkbears to win. each meaningful victory by tsun, outside of the game, adds value to ohio state's victories over them.

Why does it matter though? We win the NC and I could care less what other people say about the Big-10. LSU can take home their mythical NC while we take home the real one.

Because it makes The Game more important. If scUM loses a bunch of games every year, The Game wouldn't be as important. The great players don't come to tOSU to be a part of the rivalry with Illinois.

USC could easily use the same 4 and 5-wide sets we used. Smith, Jarrett, Turner, and others could make it a long day for Mr. Trent and the scUM secondary yet again.
Personally, I think OSU's success on offense against Michigan was more a result of the personnel running the sets than it was a result of the sets themselves. That said, USC has some pretty significant weapons on offense as well, but I'd be surprised to see them have similar success, regardless of what sets they employ.

Where I see USC faltering, is that Booty is nowhere near as good as Troy Smith
Nevermind. Great minds think alike.

Finally, without that selecto-slip grass...
Per DBB's advice, that phrase has been copyrighted, and you will shortly be contacted by one of the many astute legal minds here at the Planet.

I hate betting against USC, especially this year. They really are two different teams and which one is gonna show up? Is it going to be the team that Played Cal/Oregon/Notre Dame? Or the team that couldn't score against UCLA.

Michigan 'D' must rebound

-- One minute, Michigan had the nation's best defense, a growling, scowling, quarterback-gobbling band of angry young men. The next minute, the Wolverines were laid flat on shoddy turf, watching blurs of gray scoot past.
This minute, as they prepare to face Southern California in the Rose Bowl, the Wolverines sit in a strange place, 11 weeks of utter dominance shrouded by one afternoon of bewilderment. The numbers still say U-M (11-1) is very good, with a very good defense, ranked No. 1 in the nation against the run.

i'm not talking about only this season. many ohio state fans want m*ch*gan to lose every game that they play. if they got their way, the game would mean nothing. also, i will care how big ten fares, independent of our showing in the national championship game. i don't discard whatever allegiance i have to the big ten just because my team wins the national championship.

as i stated before, a skunkbear victory against the condoms would make our achieved national championship season all the more lustrous. it would be nice to see two of ohio state's victories against teams that finished the season ranked second and third.

finally, it should be "couldn't care less."

Agreed, if nothing else solid Big-10 victories reflect well on the strength of the conference. scUM beating the condoms, however, will make me happier than most years. As a Buckeye forced to live in southern-california I have grown to hate USC almost as much as tsun.

I thought the Selecto-Slip (c) Grass conspiracy was a message board phenomenon but when I was hanging out with some high school friends who go to Michigan, they believed it 100%! "Dude! Our players changed their cleats at half-time, yours didn't! We slipped all the time!" Of course, they wouldn't buy the fact that our players had just as much playing experience on the new turf that their players had.

Edit-And we didn't play Wisconsin so we can't say we beat the 3rd ranked team in the country.
do you want to re-edit that? do you not see how it could be that we'll have beaten the second and third-ranked teams?

wisky won't be ranked third. after our victory and a skunkbear victory, florida will likely be ranked second and tsun third (possibly switched). even if scum loses, wisky would still have lsu to contend with for the #3 ranking, with usc having an outside shot of taking that spot. because lsu is going to railroad notre ame, the worst ranking that the tigers will achieve is fourth. wisky will not leap lsu.

Damn, I'm really slipping up. I've heard all this talk about Wisky possibly finishing 3rd so I assumed you meant them.
