This thread is for the Rose Bowl, so let's all keep on topic.
To be fair, Oregon treated that game like a Spring Game.Penn State ran for 297 in the Big Ten Champ.
Burke had an especially rough game getting burned on deep balls. That ain't happening again. JJ got ripped off on a phantom Offensive PI call. Oregon is a really good team but I suspect Knowles and Chip will have the good guys ready. If we keep them out of our backfield, we'll whip their asses. Defense is the question. How much better are we going to play if at all? Better be a lot
Unfortunately he keeps opening that cock-holster on his face. He just needs to shut the fuck up when it comes to anything OSU. Treasonous trader ....Can someone with a lot of patience tell me what Herbie has done over the last few years to make us hate him again? His likeability meter seems to go and down on repeat. Seems like now it's at all time low.
It’s interesting to contrast this year and post-season with some of the mid to late 2000s teams. OSU could come out and dominate a bad B10 and only drop a game but looked shell shocked playing a 1-2 loss SEC or USC team. The lone exception being a great game against 2008 Texas (arguably the best team in the country), and that was the same year as the beat down against USC.
Now 10+ years later, the script has flipped. OSU has already seen the best or close to the best that the country has to offer and will not be shocked by anything. Lone exceptions might be Georgia’s pass rush and Jeanty. Maybe NDs running game. Otherwise they’ve played the best of the best at edge (Carter), DT (fuck them), LB (Higgins) and the best overall offense when they’re focused and care (Oregon). Almost forget TE (Warren).
As frustrating as this year has been, this is the most prepared OSU team I can remember.
I agree. For me it’s just a matter of — can Day sustain this a la can he complete the mission or is this just one of those emotional wins where we are fixing avoidable issues instead of proactively ready?
After seeing that play, I didn't feel so bad about Ballard torching me in 7 on 7. He had a foot on me, I could only yell loudly when the jump ball was in air.
My guy feeling is that Knowles won't let that happen again and dials in a much better scheme after try #1. In some ways the first loss might be the best thing to learn from in this game.If we keep them out of our backfield, we'll whip their asses. Defense is the question. How much better are we going to play if at all? Better be a lot
And hopefully now Knowles and Johnson are actually trying to complement each other as opposed to working against each other. My guy feeling is that Knowles won't let that happen again and dials in a much better scheme after try #1. In some ways the first loss might be the best thing to learn from in this game.
But honestly we need the same mentality on offense as with UT. I'm sure we'll have wrinkles and you can't do the exact same thing, but mostly play to strengths throwing the ball to open up the run.
