Rivalries and Conferences (Split from LSU v. OSU Offensive Personnel Thread)

What's to explain? You're taking this years game and using it to rate the entire Ohio State/Michigan rivalry as a whole. You're not taking last years game into consideration which was one of the most viewed college football games of all time, you're not taking the history behind it or how much it means to people who were born in those two states. If I am wrong here, I am sorry, I am not trying to put words in your mouth, but most of the time there's so much on the line for that game, bragging rights, the big10 championship and in the past 6 years a right to go to the national championship game has been there three times.

What gets more intense for a rivalry than that? You say Michigan isn't a real rival, but remember, before Tressel we went 2-10-1 with John Cooper, trust me this game means a lot.

You are NOT wrong.

I can name 4 games this season that LSU played with more pressure that the OSU/Michigan match of this year and last year.
Right, because two undefeated teams from arguably the greatest rivalry in sports meeting to determine who goes to the national championship game pales in comparison to the LSU-UK matchup.

You obviously have either a terrible memory or aren't very knowledgeable, either way, you're embarrassing yourself.

Actually I am saying they are equal. Auburn/LSU and Florida/LSU are just as important to their fans. LSU/FLORIDA game had 90,000 people in BR outside the stadium without tickets. IT IS A BIG DEAL, seen by the nation, discussed by ESPN until people get sick, and normally has SEC or National Title implications.

OSU and Michigan do not have the exclusive understanding of rivalry in College football... OSU/Michigan is a great game, but there has not been any real good football played in that game for 4 or 5 years. OSU rolls over Michigan, no big deal...

Putting this is SEC terms ...

Auburn-Alabama and Florida-Georgia are more important rivalries than Auburn-LSU or Florida-LSU.

I'm not saying the games you mentioned aren't important; but with rivalries history is a very big deal.

LSU/Ole Piss has been playing since 1894. Seriously, OSU/Michigan is a great game historically, but not for the past couple of years. Seriously, UM has just been a horrible team.

Congrats on your nomination for dumbest post of the year.

Let's not forget this gem.

This rivalry talk is interesting.

I've been lurking on a couple of LSU forums to get a feel for things and when they discuss rivalries there the near concensus is that they don't really have a rival and certainly none that compare to the Ohio State/Michigan rivalry.

Mr. slutiger needs to just fess up and admit that he's wrong instead of digging a deeper hole.

BTW, other than 37-21 which was closer than that later than I'd like the 14-3 controlling win this year was an aberration. These games are usually nail-biters to the bitter end. Can anyone say Will Allen intercepts at the goal line?

:oh:

LSU really doesn't have a deep rivalry with any team at this time. The closest would probably be Auburn, but we are certainly not their biggest game. We have had very "Interesting" games with them for the last decade. Ole Miss at one time was as intense a rivalry to us as Mich. is to you. OSU vs Mich is a great rivalry, but it is no greater than Army/Navy, Texas/OK, Alabama/Auburn, Ga/ Tenn and many others are to those respective schools.

I don't think any of the rivalries on here are as big as OSU UM, the only one that might be close is AU vs. Bama. I went to a hooters in mobile once on a sat. Those 2 weren't even playing each other and it was not stop arguing. I think what convinced me was the recent show. And come on everyone knows the LSU Tulane rivalry is good as it gets. Just kidding.
