Rivalries and Conferences (Split from LSU v. OSU Offensive Personnel Thread)

Those statements demonstrate that slu's attempt to equate LSU-Auburn or LSU-Ole Miss to OSU-UM couldn't be more incorrect. Ask any sports fan in the country who is OSU's biggest rival, and they will surely come up with only one answer.

All i said was that the OSU/Michigan rivalry has not been that good of a game for the past 4 or 5 years. OSU has owned Michigan. Everyone points to the #1 and #2 match-up of last year, but everyone knows that Michigan was way overrated. I also said that their are rivalries in the SEC just as good and important as the OSU/Michigan rivalry. The World Largest Cocktail Party comes to mind.

To an LSU/OLE PISS fan, that game is more important that OSU/Michigan. Rivalry games are very regional in nature.

...and you've been wrong, all 20 times. Yes, we've won the games, but that doesn't make it "not a good game". Each year it's had an impact on the Big-10 title, and twice has sent the winner to the BCSCG, so you can stop trotting out that tired line now. :roll1:

slu, allow me to refresh your memory. MaxBuck asked the following:

Are you implying that LSU-Auburn is on the same scale as tOSU-Michigan?

To which you replied,

Actually I am saying they are equal.

You then took issue with my post in which I said that you've attempted to equate LSU-Auburn to OSU-UM. Care to backpedal once again?

2007 14-3 W
2006 42-39 W
2005 25-21 W
2004 37-21 W
2003 35-21 L
2002 14-9 W

With the exception of 2003 and 2004 those scores look like pretty good games to me. Even if you take out this year game which was close in score but reall OSU dominated that does not satisify your game has not been good for 4 or 5 year mentallity. So clearly you have spoken once again without having any clue what you are talking about.

This is irrelevant considering I would expect this rivalry to be bigger than the OSU/scUM rivalry to those fans. Any fan of any team is going to think their rivalry is bigger to them than anybody elses. It has no bearing on anything.

Based on recent history, LSU-AUBURN is as important a rivalry as OSU/Michigan. The winner of the LSU/Auburn game for the past 5 or 6 years have determined the SEC WEST and a shot at the SEC Championship game.

I think you are misinterpeting what he is saying by asking if it is bigger. I may be doing it too but I believe he is asking in general terms if it your belief it is bigger. Obviously depending on different years different games have different ramifications for different teams.

In the SEC yes the LSU/Auburn game had an impact on the SEC championship. In terms of just general thinking of rivarlies though nobody is bigger than OSU/scUM.

I think his question is more general than pointing to any specific outcomes from the game.

Wrong. It's as important a GAME some years as Ohio State/tsun but it isn't as important a RIVALRY because it isn't one. See the difference?

I think dude was talking about it being a nailbiter, down to the last play type game. If Auburn had not been jobbed the year they went undefeated, we would be able to claim the winner of our rivalry 3 of the last 7 years went on to play in the NCG. The talent on that Auburn team was as good as any team in the country that year. Just saying is all.

difference is, we CAN say that the winner of The Game has gone on to play for the BCS CG in three of the last six years ('02, '06, '07) and the winner kept the loser out of the BCS CG in another ('03)... but i wouldn't expect you to realize this...
