This is the first time we've seen Rick Pitino unhappy since his team won the national championship two months ago. It wasn't the reality of owning up to a bet and getting a tattoo or even seeing one of his horses run poorly at the Kentucky Derby that prompted public unrest.

No, it was Ohio State president Gordon Gee who rankled Pitino enough that the Louisville coach publicly called Gee a "pompous ass" on radio late last week. Gee has since apologized for remarks he made back in December (only recently publicized) that were framed as jokes but still cut deep at Catholics, Louisville, Kentucky, new Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema and the SEC as a whole.
I heard the interview, can't say I really disagree with what he said.. Gee is a poor representation of tOSU at times, and this was one of those times.

However, Rick may not be the best one to defend Catholic "diss"..

Rick cheated on his wife.. and paid for an abortion.. so... take the Catholic stuff for what it's worth I suppose, but I do agree there is no need for Gee to pump up our University by knocking others down.. we should be above that.

Gee on Louisville: "I think the presidents of the institutions are very clear that their number one criteria is to make sure that we have institutions of like-minded academic integrity. So you won't see us adding Louisville ... or the University of Kentucky."

This was actually the least "controversial" of Gee's remarks concerning other institutions: Kentucky is #125, Louisville is #160 in the USN&WR rankings of national universities. That is on par with OU and the Juggalos and not even remotely near B1G standards. But congrats on the basketball team's GPA, Rick.

Agreed. I've been an outspoken critic of Gee, but Pitino is taking this to an absurd level - especially considering the tenuous moral ground upon which he finds himself.

Fuckin around out of wed lock... "regrettable."
Making a joke about Catholics.... more than "regrettable?"

The joke lasted about as long as the sex, I guess... Or.. the joke lasted about as long as Gee took to tell the joke??

I'm not sure ... This is all so confusing.

Apparently Pitino has just been on a Vegas bender for the past week. Pictures of him dominating the Craps and Blackjack tables at the Venetian are all over the internet. I respect the hell out of that move...

I suspect he wants to be as far from Karen Sypher as possible, so Vegas is a good choice. Marianna Prison Camp is a long way away from there.

Interestingly, after the abortion, the amount Sypher asked for in blackmail was $5.5 million, which supposedly was the same amount that had been raised by his foundation in honor of his son Daniel who had died at age six months, a foundation for children's needs, because "she had lost a child, too"

It does seem inconsistent to on the one hand raise millions after one child dies at age 6 months to honor that child, and then years later pay for an abortion when you are wealthy and could easily afford to provide for the child.

I think it's the use of the phrase "academic integrity" that's off. He should have used "academic standards." I don't know that they're in any way dishonest about what they are as a school.
