It's a done deal.

The problem is this schools expectations are way too high.

They told me when I stated they wanted progress, look at how much I have progressed. We have won more than twice as many games as my first year, and people are still upset?

Now all the fans will get upset if I lose this bowl game, but come on, shouldn't Michigan fans be used to hearing "Michigan loses a bowl game" by now?

Colin continues to show his ignorance. For a west coast guy, you think he'd be a bit more familiar with Harbaugh's history.

The lack of talent in Ann Arbor would make things tough for awhile, but Harbaugh is perfectly capable of running a read option offense if necessary. He will not force his QBs into his scheme like RR did, he has run a variety of offenses, shifting it to suit his personnel. Denard would have fit in well into his offensive attack at SDSU.

It is hard to win at a school without talent, development and direction...

- Only 2 DTs on roster after Martin (who may be gone), both redshirting freshmen who are both projects.
- Filling the LB depth chart by signing Big East caliber LBs or BCS caliber athletes & safeties to convert there.
- Settling for two straight classes of WVU level defensive talent after losing out on most of the UM caliber talent
- Moving players around constantly throughout the year. Floyd, Vinopal, Robinson, Gordon, Jones, etc all moved around the defense throughout the year.

...but it isn't because the system is too different. Harbaugh would dominate at Oregon and would have success at Missouri.

You sure are a smart guy Mr. jwinslow.

You seem to know a heck of a lot more about Michigan than some Michigan fans know about their own team.

That Michigan scout board is downright ridiculous right now.

And IMO I think it's Harbaugh, otherwise what's the hold up? If Rich is coming back you back him publicly. Dave Brandon hasn't done that, he's been very non-committal and tight-lipped and is towing the same line with not only the media, but with recruits. That says a lot to me, IMO.

If the next coach were Brady Hoke or somebody else, Rich would've been fired and they would've had the new guy already.

The timing of this whole thing leads me to believe that it's Harbaugh.

And I think there are enough players here for Harbaugh to win 8 games with his first season with the soft schedule that U-M has, and Harbaugh will bring in top flight defensive assistants and hopefully one or two of those three 4* LB'ers he already has committed to him for Stanford. All 3 are from the East Coast, not the West Coast, so that just might be a possibility.

Got my fingers crossed it's Harbaugh.

I'm not going anywhere... we should know that they will give me one more year with this dynamic class I have recruited.

One? You deserve at least five more years, so that your dynamic class can really have a chance to prove themselves under your astute leadership.

The Big 10 looks to me to be Wisconsin, Ohio state and Michigan State next year and Wisconsin is off your schedule (and just a few years back it would be Wisconsin celebrating that fact).

The rest of the teams should be mediocre to awful and until Michigan and Penn State are 'born again' (to borrow a phrase) the conference is going to remain that way. I've yet to be impressed by what Nebraska brings to the table.

Doesn't the buyout, pretty much, get cut in half if they wait until after Jan 1 to fire Rich Rod?

Could be a combination of the $$ in combo with the fact that there's not really a recruiting class to save. Even if it is Harbaugh, he's not going to pull some magic and bring in top flight talent this late into the recruiting process.

Option 1) Fire RichRod after the Ohio State game, pay him the full buyout, bring in Coach X and get X or someone else coach the bowl. Suckitude of the recruiting class remains for this year. Coach X starts on next recruiting cycle.

Option 2) Fire RichRod after the bowl game, pay him half, bring in Coach X for next years recruiting. Suckitude of the recruiting class remains for this year. Coach X starts on next recruiting cycle.

Either way, recruiting class still leaves a lot to be desired and the Coach wouldn't coach the bowl game anyway. Maybe Brandon is hoping the team goes out and wins one for the Richer.

or

Option 3) Rich Rod is retained and hilarity continues.

His best bet is to bring some of his stanford verbals with him, like his stud LBs (particularly Vaughters). Most of the midwest is already locked up.
