Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Nice to see you flip-flop.

First it was "all of Michigan's offensive commits will de-commit", and when proven wrong, you now resort to telling me that I smoke crack and that we don't have any defensive recruits.

We only have 7 recruits on defense, and of the 7, I'd say 5 are actually legit Michigan level kids, Brennen Beyer, Chris Rock, Kellen Jones, Delonte Hollowell, and Dallas Crawford. Desmond Morgan and Greg Brown seem a little bit like reaches to me.

We only had about 18 schollies to give, and quite frankly we aren't going to land big-namers like Anthony Zettell, Kris Frost, Lamar Dawson, Avery Walls, Wayne Lyons, etc., etc., when none of them know who the hell will be coaching Michigan 2011.

And for the record, we have no WR's, TE's, and QB's, or slots committed.

And Harbaugh isn't married to one system or as dependent upon one player as Rodriguez. When he was at San Diego he had an athletic QB and ran some spread with Josh Johnson, and quite frankly Stanford runs more read option with Andrew Luck than we do with Denard Robinson. We don't run the read option very much, Denard isn't very good at it, we're more of a QB iso team than read option.

Hey if Dee Hart wants to play for Michigan with a pro-style coach coming in good for him...I didn't say he waS A GENIUS.

Harbaugh will want an OL closer to Wisconsin's OL than Scums current OL...If you don't want to believe that thats fine I don't give a shit. I agree that hes probably smarter than RR and try to keep the current players and slowly integrate his style but who knows.

If you think that Harbaugh will not affect recruiting negatively in respect to who you have offered on the offensive side of the ball your stupid...anybody with half a brain can look at Stanfords offense and then look at Michigans offense/offensive recruits and see theres a huge difference. Now if a recruit is dumb enough to commit to a school that will be running a completely different style of offense 2-3 years down the road thats their decision.

No matter what happens I am gonna sit back and watch this trainwreck happen...Brandon is fucking up and its a thing of beauty. He should have canned his ass right after the game. If he keeps Rich Rod thats an early Christmas gift...if he hires Harbaugh after the new year thats great too because this recruiting class will be in shambles...

Either way I could give a shit less because it will take at least 2-3 years to make that shitty defense even respectable...

I'm gonna enjoy that Michigan 2012 schedule
Alabama
ND
OSU
NEB
MSU
NW
IOWA

Thats gonna be a hum dinger for even the mighty Harbaugh.

Get back to me when you get immediate impact players on the defensive side of the ball.

I was unfortunate enough to go to the scum football camp in 94 and one of their claims was that they never had a lineman over 300 lbs. I think the current ideal size for an OL is 300 to 310, but I agree that they don't need 300++++ lb guys to run the pre-DickRod scum system.

Well, lucky you. That means you got to spend the day around ole' Gary Moeller, huh. :wink2:

I think a high school kid coming in at around 270 pounds is more than big enough to play in a pro style offense. Virtually all OL come in and red-shirt, and a kid coming in with a good frame at 6'7, 270 can easily project to be around 295-305 within 2-3 years.

And quite frankly it's easier to get a kid coming in at 270-280 (like Jake Fisher) and get him up to 300-310 than it is to take a kid coming in at 330-340 pounds (see Alex Mitchell) and try to get them to slim down to 300-310.

Most of the offensive lineman already on the Michigan roster can fit in a pro-set.

The only real under-sized "spread" type lineman on scholarship on the roster is Ricky Barnum and a Christian Pace. Pace is only a freshman though that is red-shirting and he's listed at 280 and Barnum is a RS Soph. guard that is listed at 286.

His contract specifies that RichRod must receive 30 days written notice before he's terminated. If he's fired due to breaking NCAA rules and/or other language in his contract, they don't need to pay him any buyout. His buyout in $4 million now, and $2.5 million starting in 2011.

Florida and Miami have already hired head coaches that aren't involved in bowl games with their former school, so their new head coaches are already recruiting full-time. By waiting, Brandon is making it more difficult for a coach hired in January to get a decent 2011 class.

If I were TSUN's AD, I would have given RichRod the 30 days notice on December 3rd, with the termination effective on Jan 2nd, the day after the bowl game. That would have made RichRod a lame duck who would only be due the $2.5 million, and TSUN could have already hired the new coach.

Not doing that only seems to make sense if Brandon thinks he has Harbaugh ready to jump, and they've agreed to make nothing public until after Stanford's Orange Bowl, which is January 3rd.

But that's all just me reading tea leaves, and assuming that Brandon's using most of his brain.

That further goes to prove that I am not going anywhere.

Look if you get past my minor issues (inability to coach, can't recruit, not a good human being, not very good with the media and the fact that I am a total attention whore) then you will see I'm not that bad. I am building something here, something unique, something special.

So, I'll be back, I'll have a horrible year and I'll need the team to raise me up at the end of the year, but that won't be my fault either, as next years schedule is a murders row, and this will continue for many years to come.

Now, if only I could remember my twitter password.

Pretty sure Dee Hart is leaning towards Alabama regardless of what happens with Rodriguez or Harbaugh.

That's not what a guy who is friends of Dee's coaches and talks with his family that posts over at GBW.

This guy has been pretty spot on with Dee and all the kids at Dr. Phillips, and just posted 2-3 days ago that Dee will stick with Michigan if Rich is there, he wants to play in that offense with Denard, and that if Rich isn't there but Harbaugh is he still might go to Michigan. He says that if Michigan hires a Brady Hoke (somebody that Dee has never even heard of) or somebody like that then Dee is all but gone.

Oh, and FWIW, he swears that Dee isn't going to Alabama. They are talking to him about CB or WR, 'Bama's #1 target at RB is somebody else, and Dee wants none of that, he wants to play RB.

Not sure why you have so many rubies, coach. You are the best M*ch*g*n coach ever and I think it's embarrassing that my friends here at BP have neg repped you so much. (It's probably just that cock sucker Llllloyd Carr) Hang in there, coach. I am 'All In' for many more glorious, record breaking years. Buckeye Nation supports you!

Well Bammer insiders think they are going to get every kid. Have you ever stopped by any Bammer boards? They literally think they are getting everybody.

A guy who goes by the name Jfactor and posts on that loon infested GBW board knows Dee Hart personally, the DP coaches, and Hart's family and he's been accurate on Dee and all of the DP kids really.

When Beaver was trying to push to that crowd that they had a real shot at HaSaen Clinton-Dix, it was the Jfactor guy that said no way, not happening - and he said that because he talks with the DP coaches frequently and he knows Dix personally.

In this case, if he says something I take his word for it, because he's closer to the situation than most.

Alabama isn't recruiting him to play RB, they want him at slot WR/return specialist like Marquise Maze or at CB, and well he's never been anything but a RB.

Jake Fisher and Jack Miller fit a pro-style offense. You are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Jon Jansen came into Michigan at a similar size as Jake Fisher. Steve Hutchinson graduated here playing at 296 pounds.

Look at Stanford's recruiting class pal. They have an OL commit that is 6'5, 263, another one that is 6'4, 280, and another one that is 6'3, 275.

There are a pair of pro-style Rb's already on the roster in Stephen Hopkins and Michael Cox, and then guys like Fitzgerald Touissaint and Dee Hart can really play in any offense, although they may be more suited towards spread offenses.

There are already a pair of Pro-style TE's on the team for the 2011 season in Brandon Moore and Kevin Koger.

Then why isn't DickRod running a pro-style offense?

Word was (as recent as a week ago) Alabama is recruiting him as a RB... they want him to tandem with Isiah Crowell. and BTW Auburn insiders were confirming the Bama info as well.

Always with the excuses...

Rodriguez said it's exciting to think about how much easier it would be to recruit if there was more positive news surrounding him and the program.
"The first year, we didn't have much time," he said. "The second year, there was drama. Then, there was the NCAA thing. Now, there's another obstacle."

During The Game this year, I asked a lot of the MI & AA media types on the sidelines for their thoughts on RR's future. Most weren't sure what to do, but EVERY single one of them echoed the same phrase:

We are so sick of his excuses.
