Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

That's obvious, you left me with no players, a complete rebuilding project.
Nice recruiting... dumb-ass.

Ah well, at least I didn't lose to Appalachian State.
Funny thing that, I could never understand the spread offense until that game. I was so embarrassed by that loss I watched it over and over again. I watched it so many times that I finally figured out just how easy it was to stop the spread, I even beat Florida in a bowl game that year. Well, I hated you even more than I loved Michigan so you know what I did Rich old buddy? I wrote a dissertation about how to stop your offense and I sent a copy to every Big Ten coach, that jackass Bielema told me I could shove it and look what happened to him, the next year he asked for another copy. I decided I hated you more than that arrogant prick so I sent him one, I made him beg for it first though. Oh and never call me old buddy again, I'm not going to tell you any more, next time I'm just going to beat the shit out of you, just try not to cry too much ok.

Oh by the way, I've been meaning to ask you, you hillbilly son of a bitch. Is your wife also your grandma?

my UMich colleagues are all saying that Harbaugh to UM is a done deal. They too say that the day after Stanford's bowl Harbaugh will announce.

These are my favorite kind of rumors. It implies that:

1. In the two weeks since the close of the season Harbaugh, while beginning bowl preparations, has managed to negotiate details of a contract with another school.

2. The UM AD is a complete liar in regards to comments about no decisions having been made and evaluations being done at the end of the season. A lie which will be exposed the day Harbaugh is announced.

3. Somebody in the UM program knows that Harbaugh has agreed to terms, but Stanford does not - or Stanford is comfortable with his continuing to recruit for a school he does not plan to coach next year.

4. Somebody in the UM program knows that Harbaugh has agreed to terms, but the Stanford players do not - or else they are being really cool about it.

5. Somebody in the UM program knows about this, but RR is in the dark - or UM isn't concerned about potential buyout lawsuits once they fire their old coach.

Either that, or somebody is posting stuff to an Internet message board which isn't true.

Rich Rod Expecting To Be Fired? | Bucknuts.com

Posted by Bill Kurelic on Dec 13, 2010 at 10:54 am

On his ESPN radio show this morning Colin Cowherd said he is hearing Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez and his staff expect to be fired in January. Cowherd said it might not happen, but Rich Rod and his assistants expect it to.

Cowherd also said not to close the book on Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh going to Michigan. Cowherd said the big problem is that the players and system at Michigan right now are so much different than what Harbaugh runs, it would make it tough for a while if Harbaugh went there.

I know the world gets sick of hearing it but:

We told you so!

The beauty of the RR hire from Day 1 has been not only the short run vortex of suck but the certainty of residual benefit from the next guy having no good way to unfuck the mess he will inherit.

I don't care if they dig up old coaches and fuse together their DNA to make a coaching super mutant. He will inherit a roster heavy on slot dots, light on defensive talent, light on defensive depth and almost completely devoid of special teams talent. Even consider Denard Robinson and some of the other midgets that don't completely suck, is their value going to go up or down in a more traditional offense?

Any coach worth a damn is going to have to at least pause and consider the career impact of going into a situation where you are initially (first 2-3 years minimum) set up for failure.

Hey someone start a rumor that the UM insiders are saying RR stays no matter what and Colon Coward will report that too....

Colin continues to show his ignorance. For a west coast guy, you think he'd be a bit more familiar with Harbaugh's history.

The lack of talent in Ann Arbor would make things tough for awhile, but Harbaugh is perfectly capable of running a read option offense if necessary. He will not force his QBs into his scheme like RR did, he has run a variety of offenses, shifting it to suit his personnel. Denard would have fit in well into his offensive attack at SDSU.

It is hard to win at a school without talent, development and direction...

- Only 2 DTs on roster after Martin (who may be gone), both redshirting freshmen who are both projects.
- Filling the LB depth chart by signing Big East caliber LBs or BCS caliber athletes & safeties to convert there.
- Settling for two straight classes of WVU level defensive talent after losing out on most of the UM caliber talent
- Moving players around constantly throughout the year. Floyd, Vinopal, Robinson, Gordon, Jones, etc all moved around the defense throughout the year.

...but it isn't because the system is too different. Harbaugh would dominate at Oregon and would have success at Missouri.

well to be fair, and to preempt the inevitable JH is God hype from up north, didn't Ty Willignham have some success at Stanford too?

I know he'll be shooting thunderbolts from his ass the day they announce his hire, and he might very well be an excellent choice, but success at Stanford doesn't guarantee anything anywhere else.

That is my ultimate wish here, they give the next guy 5 years of rope to overcome RR's mess only to find out he's not the answer either. They have mirrored the Domers decline in so many ways, I really hope they get the decade + of mediocrity part right and anything less than a brilliant hire here starts them well on the path.
