Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Interesting comparison, but those stats were off.

'70 to '79 seasons - 978 total points allowed

Rich Rod Points Against Accumulated
'08 - 347
'09 - 330 (677)
'10 - 240 (917) through 8 games

He actually has 61 points to go to match the 978 points allowed in the 10 seasons from '70 through '79 (not counting the 10 points USC scored in the Rose Bowl on 1-1-1970).

Wow, that's absolutely pathetic. The fact that Michigan fans are still accepting Rich Rod speaks volumes for the standards that they are willing to accept. And any Michigan fan ignorant enough to compare this moron to Bo should be stripped of his fanhood and sent to Boise.

Michigan fans who compared him to Bo should be shot for sacrilege.
I am still looking for an explanation as to why, at least with the two Michigan fans close to me, they thought he was such a great hire? One of the aforementioned fans, who is a Michigan native, said to me (at the time) that he was the best hire they ever made. Of course, I ask if that it included Bo, and the answer was yes, better than Bo. And, I think he is still holding out a little hope that it holds true, and he's not the typical delusional internet scUM fan.

Speaking of the 70's. If we went back in time and told a scUM fan back then that this would be where the bar was set circa 2010 I wonder what the reaction would have been? I'm guessing arrogant dismissal.

2010 scUM fans: "Hey we didn't lose to a MAC school this year, the offense isn't boring, the QB has cool hair, if we can beat Purdue we might go to a Bowl game and the NCAA let us off the hook on the one major violation we didn't already admit to. Good times!"

:slappy:

Reap it you arrogant bastards.

So, two separate Michigan coaches will allow more points this decade than Bo did in the 70s. HAHAHAHAHA!

In a way, it's kind of sad. It's almost like watching the Justice League without the Legion of Doom. I think even as a 6 year old kid, the excitement wouldn't have been the same without a worthy opponent.

To be fair to Lloyd..the offenses are a LITTLE bit more dynamic today then back in the 70s. Plus the Big Ten wasn't as horrible as it was back in those days, particularly the 1st half the 70s

To give up that many points in 3 years still isn't forgivable though

The stats for Rodriquez's points against in 3 years vs. Bo's points against in 10 years (1970's) tells me two things:
1. Bo had some stellar defenses. (His teams averaged less than 10 points against per game for an entire decade.)
2. Rodriguez probably shouldn't field a defense. It can't be any worse than it is now, and their players would have less chance of getting injured.
