Underwhelmed in that I honestly believe Michigan could have done better.

Overwhelmingly happy as a Buckeye fan however.

Gimmicky goof of a coach who just doesn't fit the image of the school?

I want to see how the 3-3-5 defense works in the Big 10. Scum couldn't have picked a coach that clashes more with their current system and the way the Big 10 plays football. He also puckers up in rivalry games. Could we really ask for anything more?

It just feels like RR is one of the few guys who could actually set TSUN back even farther rather than moving them ahead.

I can't imagine RR running his offense next year with the current personnel.

Is he a guy that's locked into his system or adjusts his system to his personnel like Tressel?

Anxious to see his gameplanning until he gets the kind of players he wants on offense.

I can't imagine diehard Michigan fans being too happy with this hire, I on the other hand, am ecstatic. The guy tightened up like a drum in the biggest game of the season.

I say he's gone in three years.

What makes it sweeter is that Michigan fans will be choking on their words in less than a year. They're happy about this hire?

Unbelievable. The chokejob in the BBrawl was embarrassing: misuse of one of the best backs in the country and letting McCoy run silly on that soft defense is ridiculous.

The only name that could have made me happier was DeBord.

I am estatic over this one. As I said in the other thread, scUM just hired their John L Smith. The next 3-5 years are going to be fun.

I don't think anyone said he can't recruit. I knw I never did. I said he was a dirty recruiter.

As far as that attempt to downplay his big game choke record do you honestly think WVU had the less talented team vs USF and Pitt this year? How about vs USF in '06?

You hired a guy with a proven track record of bending the recruiting rules and choking in big games not to mention his teams softness and lack of defensive fundamentals.

Other than the dirty recruiter bit his track record suggests he is going to augment the things that were wrong under Carr the last few years, not fix them.

I haven't talked to an OSU fan yet that isn't laughing at this one. We couldn't have done better if you let this boards members pick your next coach. Dick Rod contrasted to Tressel over the next few years will be pure comedy gold.

I for one can't wait for all the fun its going to be rubbing arrogant ass scUM fan's noses in the fact they just sold everything they supposedly hold dear about doing it the Michigan way to the devil to get a "name" coach. The best part is he's not even going to win.

Wow, I'm suprised that he fired all of them. I understand it is his perogative, with this opening due to a retirement and not a firing (of Carr) I expected him to retain/"rehire" at least a few.

It will be interesting to see the recruiting fallout and response from the Michigan Men.

It will also be interesting to see how far reaching rr is in building a staff. I hope for the B10's sake he doesn't just bring up his WVU staff and looks to expand his staffs knowledge and experience (although a weak scUM isn't all bad for a tOSU fan )

The front page at GBW now shows a teaser to a premium story that suggests Jackson (Running Backs coach) has been re-hired.

Based on the reactions of the assistants, initially, I'd say rehiring is a reactionary move due to some pressure from those who matter.

If he's smart (no actual returns on this yet), he's rapidly devising a Plan B for if/when Pryor doesn't chose AA.

Obviously all of the above are old-system quarterbacks. Threet is the Georgia Tech transfer, and Cone and Sheridan have not seen game action save a couple token handoffs against Notre Dame. They didn't fumble, which is nice. Cone appears to be marvelously useful as a clipboard stand. None of these will strike fear into Jim Tressel, nor even, I suspect, Tim Brewster.

However, RR did not get where he is today by being stupid, or by sitting back and going "damn, no recruits."

Unless he's talking about Carr's recruits

I would be willing to bet copious amounts of money that one of those names - Pryor, Gray, Spano, Britt, or Reamon - will be on the back of a maize-and-blue uniform next year. Any one of them would be more likely to start than the current corps of candidates.

There is the thought out there that RR was just fishing and not really serious until WVU called his bluff.
He may not have really given the job that much thought. But, he can make a big splash if he could snag Pryor or some other major stud to run his offense.
RR may not fit with the Michigan culture, either.
This is a huge gamble by Michigan.

I love how some of the scUM boards like to write revisionists' style of history, since many of those posters claim that their "suckeye friends/neighbors/co-workers" all collectively shit their pants on the announcement of Richie being hired (and not because they were laughing too hard, either). They honestly (want to) believe that Buckeye Nation was scared of RR and how he would dominate the Big Ten.

i certainly didn't think it would be this bad. Luckily I can go play with my kids after the games are over and not let it bother to the point it does others.

I give him this season, seriously. I'm still on board, but I need to see something this year to make me say, "hey, this has a chance." 6 wins isn't really that what i'm looking for either.
