NCAA joins in U-M investigation

U-M has not released the name of the counsel, but the Free Press has learned it is Gene Marsh, a former chairman of the NCAA?s Committee on Infractions. The infractions committee reviews enforcement cases and determines punishment if warranted.

Marsh, who joined the Birmingham, Ala., firm of Lightfoot, Franklin and White in its sports law department in February, served nine years on the infractions committee before his tenure ended in the summer of 2008.

Good move on their part. Marsh is an Ohio State alumnus.

Who would have thought that Ohio State would so often come to the rescue of its downtrodden foe? First there was osugrad21, and then Coach Tressel, followed by Kurt Coleman and teammates, and now Gene Marsh.

Lloyd was the secondary coach as far back as 1980, and was the DC after that. All told, Lloyd's spent over 28 years coaching there in some capacity, which is actually more time than even Bo, by nearly a full decade.

I'm sure being a defensive-minded guy that has put nearly 30-years into the program, Lloyd's none too happy seeing an offensive genius come in and turn the Wolverines into a laughing-stock in just one season.

No, coached. Bo started in 1969. Coached till, if I remember right, 1989. 21 years. That he stayed on at an honorary position is another matter. Carr coached at UM for 28 years.
