Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

let's dig into this a bit closer. After beating two patsies, here was Pitt's schedule:

09/15 L 13-17 MSU
09/22 L 14-34 Conn
09/29 L 14-44 UVA
10/10 L 45-48 Navy
10/20 W 20-10 Cinci
10/27 L 17-24 Louis
11/03 W 17-20 Cuse (2-7)
11/17 L 20-16 Rutgers
11/24 L 37-48 South Fla
12/01 W 13-9 WVU

Until 12/1, I'm not seeing the 'significantly improved' pitch angle, given your measuring stick. Lucky for their sniper26 rating, Dantonio isn't their coach.

Hey, the games were close! Going by your earlier posts, that seems to work just fine in determining whether a team was better or not. Or does that only apply to a former OSU coordinator's team?

Bury your head in the sand all you want, but watch the last two USF and last years Pitt game and it's clear to see that DickRod was badly outcoached in those games. He showed an inability or a bullheaded unwillingness to adapt his gameplan when a team is capable of stopping his offense. Hell, he almost lost to a pitiful Louisville team until Pat White decided to put on his superman cape on the final drive.

Also, the injury excuse doesn't hold water. His offense lends itself to injuries to the QB, so you don't think that will happen at um?

An 11 point loss is a shellacking nowadays? Mmmmmmmmmk.
They certainly weren't 'significantly improved', as you claimed.

Pittsburgh didnt' score for 1.5 qtrs (2nd to 4th) as USF pulled ahead by 20.
Pittsburgh cuts it to 13, USF goes up by 20 again.
Pittsburgh cuts it to 12, USF goes up by 19.
Pittsburgh cuts it to 11 with 0:45 to go.

Pittsburgh was 'outmatched' (if you prefer that adjective) and certainly not 'significantly improved'.

Bostick tossed 3 picks. McCoy went 18 car 55 yds 3.1 ypc 1 tds + 2 tds from 1 yd out (one with 0:45 to go). Not a very good outing.

Very inconsistent measuring stick in this thread.

So your response to me calling you out on this very issue is to strangely attempt to turn this around on me?

Pitt was lousy under your measuring stick, save for one glorious upset... and a pile of mediocrity just below Sparty (since it involved their annual loss to MSU) for the first 11 games.

I bet Louisville feels good that they "almost" won. Because that's what matters. Uh, while we're on the topic of Pat White, remind me who gave him his only QB schollie offer? Must have been some terrible coach, right?

Nice try to throw that back on me. :roll1:

Nope, but it doesn't make up for his awful in game coaching decisions against teams that could contain his vaunted offense. I've said a million times, when a team can smack his offense in the mouth, he poops his pants and doesn't know what to do. Care to address this or do you just want to throw back recycled responses?

Neat how you get to play both sides of this coin.

His only starting gig at LSU would've been after Perrilloux used up his nth streak. WVU made a great offer for their program where others missed out, but I don't see him starting for many of the title contenders. Certainly not over Bradford, Tebow, Stafford, etc. Other schools would not have time (nor a lack of options) to let Pat develop into an okay passer. He would be moved.

All right, I'm going to finish this by saying what is expected, not necessarily what I believe.

Mark Dantonio is the second best coach in the country (besides Jim Tressel of course). His 24-22 career record as a coach is the stuff legends are made of. Conference titles? Mark Dantonio scoffs at your conference titles. National titles? Who wants any of those? No no, Mark Dantonio can talk shit on Michigan at whatever opportunity he wants (Mike Hart, moment of silence after the Michigan/Appalachian State game, Michigan countdown clock etc...) and not back it up, but that's okay, because dammit, he was a DC on a loaded Buckeye defense that a blind monkey could have coached to greatness. Mark Dantonio is 0-2 against Rich Rodriguez, but that's okay. 7-6 is fucking sick baby! Mark Dantonio will be in the Rose Bowl, by god! Hey that's his recruiting pitch, so it must be true. What? Late game collapse against Michigan, at home, after all the shit talking? No no, that's not important either. HE CHANGED THE CULTURE, I TELL YOU! CHANGED IT!

Right, because that's exactly what HTM, methomps, gatorubet and others do all of the time :roll2: Sorry to see you're not up for the challenge, just recycled hyperbole.

Really? He wouldn't start at other title contenders? You must be kidding.

Again you resort to emotion rather than actually debating the topic. This would be easier to stomach if you didn't have that capacity.

So please, give me schools he'd start over, or tell me which of those teams he'd start for... emotion can be fine, but completely worthless without substance.

Bama and a number of programs could certainly have used him, but I don't see many title contenders that would start him.

Good to see you've changed your approach since your last "vacation".:roll1:

He's a system superstar. Do you see anybody else running that kind of offense? Why are most NFL scouts projecting him as a WR? His passing is average at best and his skill set wouldn't fit at most BCS schools, so yeah, really.

Georgia? Nope.
Ohio State? Nope. Might be a package qb, like they wanted to use TGinn in the desert. Likely a WR/ATH most of the time.
USC? Nope.
Oklahoma? Nope.
Florida? Nope.
Missouri? Not starting.
LSU? Was 'nope' until their QB was booted. Would not have played much until his 4th year.
WVU? Him.
Clemson? Perhaps, could counter their atrocious OL.
Auburn? Probably.
Texas? Not starting.
Texas Tech? Nope.
