Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Mallet is running the option right now..... Between Michigan and Some other college that is.. haha

Yes I agree Sandgk Michigan with a man who understood the rivalry was always good against OSU but once they lost BO (RIP) they really haven't mounted to much. The 90's didn't prove Carr understood us but IMO proved that Cooper didn't know what the hell to do with UM. I think understanding and being embeded into the rivalry makes a bigger impact than what is being stated from the UM perspective.

I think you're overplaying that angle a bit. It doesn't take a born-and-bred Michigander/Ohioan to appreciate the rivalry. That's part of the beauty of it. If guys can come in from New York and Texas and California and be indoctrinated into the rivalry, RR shouldn't have any trouble either.

umm... it's the head coach that does the indoctrinating. in the absense of that passion (sourcing from the leadership), it'll be hard for the players to just pluck it out of the air.

as someone who was at tOSU through most of the cooper years and still remembers that bitter taste, i can say that the only thing that gave me any sense of the intensity of the history of the rivarly was our piss-poor record during those years. coop, all the while, just insisted that it's just another game in an attempt to make the whole nightmare go away.

I remember thinking the same thing the day Coop was hired.

Interesting quote from an Ivan Maisel article:

Brown refused to comment on the salary or the length of the contract that the two sides have agreed to pursue.

(Brown being RRs agent.) There is no signed contract in place. Although I am sure they agreed on general numbers, I might suggest UM is in a very strong bargaining position right now.

Mallet ran the spread in high school.

RichRod runs the spread option as his offense.

If you dont know the difference, watch the Illinois vs. Missouri game. Illinois runs a spread option, Missouri runs a spread.

Mallet cannot run a spread option offense because Mallet can't run period.

There is no one currently on UM's roster who could effectively run a spread option the way RR wants to. He will have to recruit a player who can run a spread-option or change his offense, which he hasn't ever shown he is capable of doing.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but Im very curious to see if he says anything about the rivalry like Tress did when he was given the job. That definitly won a few folks over and showed that he understood the magnitude of the rivalry. I wonder if RR will be able to comprehend how big this thing is.
I'm sorry, but what he pulled on his players was unacceptable. Come to think about it, hell, I wouldn't expect anything less from a guy trying to fit in at scUM.

can you blame them on that one though? it's not like this is just a game. it's not like the team played like shit. the kid MISSED 2 field goals.

I feel I can. Razzing the kid on message boards is one thing; chanting at his house is something else entirely, and vandalizing his property is purely criminal.

If Terrelle Pryor goes to scUM, it might mean we have to hear Brent Petway make another song where he rhymes "Pryor" with "prior" with "Richard Pryor". Somebody send TP this piece of work, that should be all it takes to convince him to stay away from there:

Can we get a Carr RamRod fark up in here?

That's not entirely true. He has variations. Shaun King in the Tulane offense, and his first couple of years at WVU, they ran a more traditional spread--if there is such a thing.
