Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Detroit News: Rodriguez responds to Tressel remark

Wow! Come to papa...

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

It remains unclear whether Ohio State coach Jim Tressel recently lobbed an insult at Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, but Rodriguez indicated he really doesn't care.

During an interview that originally aired Monday night during "Michigan Sports Weekly" on WXYT AM-1270, Rodriguez was asked if he had heard Tressel's remark made toward the end of Ohio State's 17th spring preview earlier this month.

Rodriguez had not and had to be read the comment.

"Huh well, maybe I'm not a gentleman," Rodriguez said. "I never heard of that (gentlemen's agreement). In that regard, I would be guilty as charged. I know as soon as I took the job, there was a commitment to the University of Michigan who changed his commit and went to another Big Ten school. I didn't blame the coach for doing that. Until the guy signs, he's out there, particularly if he visits.

[...]

Rodriguez also was asked about the three offensive linemen -- Jeremy Ciulla, Alex Mitchell and Justin Boren -- who decided not to return to Michigan. Boren made the most explosive exit, issuing a statement nearly two weeks ago saying the program's "family values" had "eroded" since Rodriguez took over.

"I don't know if it's so much about the style (of offense) the guys who stayed, they just like to work," Rodriguez said. "They don't mind being pushed and demanded to take themselves to a place they can't take themselves. You don't have to be a certain style or size of player to do that. You just really, really have to want to play."

Well there you go. DickWad was never given the gentleman's agreement flyer that all the other B10 coaches received upon arrival to the conference, and Justin Boren only really wanted to play, but didn't really really want to play...Well done Mr. Wad...Well done.

Lots of problems but don't expect TSUN to fold in the fourth quarter in coming years.

based on his WVU teams stellar performances in late big games?

I don't think this guy is a threat to anyone but scUM fans. He is simply going to lose while customizing the talent to his scheme(say 2-3 years), then lose when that excuse goes away(3-4 years) then the next guy coming in is going to inherit a team built for a scheme he probably won't run, add another 2-3 years to the pile.

I say RR is good for another solid 7-8 years of problems for scUM.

I think he was referring to how scUM would be in much better shape because of an improved S&C program.

Oh God, Trey McNeil and Rich Rodriguez references in the same sentence...

Yet another good reason to leave the Trey McKneel thread in the CFB forum.

With each passing day, as we learn more about both subjects, the gap between the two threads becomes even more narrow. They're on a rapid convergence course.
