I know bashing RR (and by extension Michigan) is pretty easy (and probably fun) ... let's leave his family members out of the festivities. Thank you.

I would like to thank Rich Rodriguez for rebuilding the hate that I have for Michigan and its fan base.

Not so long ago, the school up north was hard to hate. Llyod Carr always looked sad and the team was choking across the board and going 1 in 7 including 0 for 4 against :osu:. They lost to a D-1AA team.

Then all of sudden, they get a new coach in Fraudriguez. They become obsessed with Pryor. They sign 4 running backs. DickRod's legal and public battles with WVU. An OK recruiting class that rivals somehow ranks right behind :osu:.

Now, Michigan fans begin to think their team/school is relevant again. They think :osu: is trying to buy Pryor a car, have blind faith in Stanford's DC as Michigan's DC, and begin saying :osu: is embarrassing the Big 10 in bowls games because we can't beat an SEC team.

Go Bucks, and here's to 4 more years of winning!

ESPN Page 2 - TMQ: Bad predictions review

High school players convicted of crimes end up with full scholarships for football and men's basketball. To cite a case that received significant attention in my state, a highly recruited Maryland prospect named Pat Lazear pleaded guilty in early 2007 to conspiracy to commit armed robbery, receiving jail time and extended probation: He supplied a replica gun and drove the getaway car for a robbery. Ohio State rescinded its scholarship letter to Lazear, but most football-factory offers stayed on the table; he chose an NCAA scholarship to West Virginia. If a guilty plea involving an armed robbery doesn't bother a football factory, why would Smash's minor transgression cause the reaction depicted in "Friday Night Lights"? On signing Lazear, Rich Rodriguez, then the Mountaineers' coach, told the Charleston Daily Mail that character "can be a matter of opinion." How very Rodriguez-like!

Ah yes. Excellent ammo for when any scUM douchebag throws off the field issues at you...of course they typically have to go back to MoC (their old stand-by) or the $500 handshake. Their new coach gives a scholie a kid involved in an armed robbery. It's really fun when you can throw one of their posts bashing tOSU for "recruiting" him back in their face, even though he was dropped post haste. Of course you can expect them to say "he won't do that here", but it does give insight into the man's character.

Anyone who believes in a Divine Being must at least accept the possibility that people can change in life.

Anyone who believes in institutional oversight as an aspect of good governance must at least accept the possibility that institutions can curb a coach's propensity to make bad decisions.

Anyone who believes that TSUN football has a storied history and this is a critical time in that history must at least accept the possibility that the Athletic Department carefully scrutinized the character of any candidate considered for a coaching position, especially of the football program.

This notwithstanding, anybody with common sense knows that TSUN administrators and supporters are already concerned that they blundered in hiring a man who appears to have such big character flaws and wondering what it will cost in the end.

Wait until Coach Tressel and his team to show them that they also hired a man who can't achieve their November objectives either.

I'd offer that the older gentelman on the left isn't napping.

Think about how you would react if you knew Bo Schembechler, were there from the beginning, and now you saw standing in front of you the new face of the scUM program. Knew that this man was going to be in a position to change the things a man like Bo built, with a lot of your blood sweat and tears, to fit his own style and personality. Knew that the man in front of you was what the administration of a school you love, and had every right to be proud of, was willing to suffer to win again.

Imagine you were one of Woody's boys and now late in life, when the winning and losing takes itsproper perspective to the finer things the man stood for and taught you, you are introduced to Dennis Erickson or Franchione, the new head coach at OSU.

I'd hang my fucking head and cry too.

Devil's advocate type question on Lazear here. This isn't to be taken as arguing "well someone had to take him, it may as well have been West Virginia."

But....someone had to take him. Supposing Lazear had all of his scholarship offers rescinded. More than likely he would have tried to walk on somewhere, and more than likely given his talent, he'd have made a team. From the Lazear recruiting thread it would appear that the general consensus among Buckeye fans was that the best path was for the program to cut all ties with Lazear and distance itself completely from the situation. So I gather that you guys would also have been unhappy if Tressel let him walk-on to the team, as there's no mention of a difference between being paid a scholarship to play and simply playing. Seems likely, though, that he'd have played somewhere. Maybe not D-IA or even I-AA, but his talent wouldn't have been overlooked. Since this seems to be the thread for judging character, and since you all are very pleased with OSU for turning him down and down on RR for signing him, should every school and football program in the country hold itself to the standard of wanting absolutely nothing to do with Pat Lazear (or similar situations)?

With an involvement in armed robbery, my opinion is yes...hands off.
