I have had two friends successfully undergo that surgery. No sweat and both recovered quickly.

My dad had it.

Do you have to lie face down for so many hours a day for it to heal?

I had macular hole surgery August 2020. Woke up one morning and couldn’t see out of my left eye. Brutal face down recovery for 72 hours. It’s all good now. Good luck, you’ll be fine!

I think the recovery is much harder than the surgery.

I would go with the Retinal Reattachment surgery instead but either way best wishes.

My college roommate was a Type I diabetic that had three retinal surgeries in two years. He’s now 49 years old and for a long time had 20/15 vision. He only just started having to wear readers to read 6 pt printed text.

These procedures are so routine it’s basically become out-patient surgery that can be performed in a clinic like a vasectomy. I wouldn’t sweat it.
