Retinal Detachment Surgery

I had macular hole surgery August 2020. Woke up one morning and couldn’t see out of my left eye. Brutal face down recovery for 72 hours. It’s all good now. Good luck, you’ll be fine!

You weren't kidding. Thursday night, after the anesthesia wore off, I had the first panic attack in my life. After my follow up on Friday, they said I could lay on my left side for periods and take 10 minutes per hour breaks and look up. That seemed to relieve all the claustrophobic and psychological pressure, and last night was fine. Which is great because I have to go 7 days not 3.

Surgery was successful though, and I get to keep my vision in that eye. Northwestern may be pompous pricks in their foosball stadium, but their doctors do good work.

Good to hear that they saved your eye! I’m not sure I could have made it 7 days, so you are tougher than me. When it was over, every part of my body that touched that face down chair was bruised, my face, shoulders, and shins were black and blue. I had a tv on the floor but was so uncomfortable I couldn’t really watch it. So I played Phish 24/7 until it was over.

No way my back could survive without being able to lay on my left side for periods. Thank Sinatra that I'm allowed to do that.

but someone recommended chamomile-lavender tea God damned miracle drug. .

Saw this thread late, as I was reading I went to respond giving you this same recommendation. I've had sleep issues for a few years now, stuff really does work when needed to though and would recommend for all.

Hoping you're on the mend, Ord. Otherwise we get to call you DareDevil.
