REFUTED: Reds to hire LaRussa next week

Folanator

Brawndo's got electrolytes...
Was at a dinner with John Allen and I was also chatting with one of the directors of PR last night (and she was HOT but that is besides the point). With the St Louis GM being let go last week I asked about the rumors about TLR and the Reds. John Allen had said that the Reds were going to make an announcement about the new coach next week to a friend of mine earlier at the party. She told me that there has been a ton of intel coming out of St Louis leading her to believe that LaRussa is the guy. This was a rumor over on BN a month ago and it sure looks like the Reds could have a new coach at the helm. She also said Kribsky is on his last year, either the Reds are in the hunt, or he is gone.

Thought I would pass it on.

Yeah, right, and they're going to spend the money to have Joe Torre be third base coach. Let's face it, this is a shoe string operation. They don't need a manager, they need pitching and Castalenni doesn't have the money to go get it.

Until MLB views income parity as important, the Reds will remain an upper level farm team.

I didn't go to the link, but I wonder, did anyone mention Bobby Valentine? I mean the guy did make the Mets a contender with Mike Piazza and that's about it (some good players sure, but that was a team like what the Reds could conceivably field)....

I don't think Joe Torre would manage this soon after getting out of the pressure cooker in NY.

hell, at this point, I think Cito Gaston would be a better hire for the Reds than Dusty Baker would be.

From what I have heard, if it happens it will be a package deal. Castellini used to be on the board for the Cardinals and has a great relationship with LaRussa and Jockety. If they are going to bring in LaRussa, Jockety comes too. I think LaRussa will drag this out until something breaks on the Yankee job before he takes anything.

Small market teams can be competative. I'm tired of using that excuse and ignoring how badly the organization uses its resources however middle of the road they may be

Thats what I'm hoping for. LaRussa alone does nothing for me really.

no way this mom & pops franchise spends the money to bring LaRusa to Cincy. Castallini has already said that Krying Krivsky will be the GM "period"...that's enough of a statement for me to continue my 13 year financial boycott of the Reds.

Uhhh, the best candidate is sitting in the Manager's office right now.

Agreed, he had the best record in the majors while he had the job. I would like to see them give him a one year contract. None of this shit where they give a coupld of years and then after a half year he sucks. Give him one year to prove himself, if they do well we keep him longer.
