  3. Reds 26
Worst run differential:
  1. Reds -77
  2. Braves -74
  3. Twins -68
I have been saying for a while now that the Twins are a fluke. They aren't really this bad and will eventually fade from contention for #1. The Braves will be in it for the long haul but the numbers don't lie, our boys are legit.

Armed with the worst bullpen in modern baseball history, an overwhelmingly mediocre starting staff and the usual organization wide rash of injuries, Reds pitching has what it takes to consistently put up losing numbers over the course of a long season.

The offense has not performed to expectations yet but all the elements are there for long bouts of some truly anemic, estrogen laden, feeble efforts. We are getting actual positive offensive performance from Jay Bruce so he will either collapse (most likely) or be traded (I use that term loosely). That will leave the usual "Gizmo and the golden shower singers" approach to the lineup, getting the offensive production on par with the pitching to help the team achieve it's goals. Duvall could be a problem. So far he has actually produced but it is still early. Lets see what happens when the pitchers adjust (that is something that people who perform the role of "pitcher" on other teams do by the way in case any life long Reds fans are confused by the term).

Some people think that all those "starting" pitchers currently on the DL are on their way to help out but seriously, when was the last time someone came off the DL and hurt this teams chances at losing? I trust the Krim Reaper to keep injuries the same (or make them worse) as much as I trust Urban Meyer in recruiting. It's not even a question in my mind. A guy on the DL is a s good as dead to me.

Defense is the Achilles heel of this team. It is legitimately good and there just isn't much they can do about it. Suarez looks like he needs to wear a football helmet over at 3B but up the middle you have 4 guys in Barnhardt, Phillips, Cozart and Hamilton that are pure all glove-no hit guys. That is hard to overcome. Gizmo contributes by vapor locking and forgetting how many outs there are every now and again while Bruce is an overrated bag of monkey spunk out in RF that will throw the ball to completely unoccupied bases sometimes but he has been offset somewhat by the relatively competent defensive contribution from Duvall in LF. All we can hope for there is that Price works his wizardry and keeps Duvalls playing time to a minimum.

At the end of the day, give me an historically bad pitching staff, an offense with the potential to be among the worst in baseball, Brian Price and the deeply ingrained Reds culture of losing and I'll take my chances. They can hang with anyone for the #1 pick.

You know, I actually like this Straily guy. He has pitched fairly well all season. That being said...Bull-pen! Bull-pen! Bull-pen!

Yeah. Poor bastard is gassed but they'll leave him out there to get rocked.

Hamilton saved his ass on that screamer in the gap.

Won't matter though.
