Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

By the 7th inning I was thinking about the game back in May when Homer did the in-game interview and they were asking him when he'd throw his no hitter, since every other 1st rounder in his draft class was doing it that month. Can't remember if that was a FOX or ESPN game that night ...

I honestly think if Baker leaves after this season (would be fine with me) that Speier should be a reasonable replacement. His lineups make sense and of course it's a coincidence, but Homer did throw his no hitter when Dusty wasn't here.

Dusty has been making the lineups still

I've come around to the idea that Duhsty is a brilliant clubhouse manager and a shit game manager. It defies logic, but it seems to work to an extent for this team and I'm not sure that making a change would work out for the better.

Maybe I've gone soft on him because of his health issues, but I do think that Duhsty deserves some credit for halfway unfucking Homer Bailey's head and making him a decent pitcher on the road. Now if only he could make him pitch worth a damn at home...

I think the solution to shoring up Duhsty's deficiencies is to idiot-proof the roster. Shoring up the left side of the field (including CF) and the bench would go a long way toward that.

Oh, wow, my mistake. Haven't had time to really check a lot so I assumed it was Speier. Well at least Dusty has finally figured out a good lineup!

Well, during this past homestand Speier was making the lineups. Dusty, before going into the hospital, created the lineups for the rest of the games in Chicago. Yet after his mini stroke it was all Speier until Dusty returned the other day. So the current lineups are once again Dusty who drew them out when he got back.

Oh, and congrats to Homer. Too bad he won't be facing the Pirates in the playoffs.

Have I also mentioned this team still can't hit for shit? They are actually getting worse. Averaging less than 2 runs per game in the last 7. By the time of the playoffs they will be under 1 run per game.
