Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

I just saw the score and inning on the bottom line of the soccer game. I thought to myself "Great. Looks like the Cardinals have them right where they want them." Then I saw the situation on this thread and pretty much chalked up another one.

At least the soccer game is entertaining. :!

Rumors going around that the reds are looking to enter the Ubaldo Jiminez sweepstakes.

Although the yankees are the likely destination this would be a huge boost to the pitching staff.

It was rumors that we would be giving up 3-5 prospects for him.

On the one hand, it's a red flag that the Rockies are willing to part with a pitcher with his talent who is still affordable and under control. Makes you wonder if there's something wrong medically/mechanically.

On the other hand, it may be a shrewd move on their part regardless of his health, given the lack of pitching talent on the market as the deadline approaches. Supply and demand.

If the Reds want to spend the money - even as relatively little as it would be in this case, there shouldn't be a contender out there that can outbid them in terms of near-MLB talent. I question their will though.

I pretty much dismissed this as fantasyland when it first came up but there is consistent buzz of UJ being scouted/trade talks with multiple teams. That makes me think at the very least the Rockies are listening to offers for whatever reason.

If that's the case the Reds have enough prospects to get him and I have a hard time thinking of a scenario where I'd say "that's too much."
