Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

God damn I hate baseball for the 1,000,000,000 stat categories and abbreviations. I have no idea what the fuck that means, but it can't be good....?

BABIP = Batting Average on Balls in Play

A BABIP below the norm can be said to have been the result of luck - because balls in play are finding a glove instead of the grass or the stands. It can be a useful stat for both pitcher and hitters. It's useful to consider against a player's own past performance and what's typical for the rest of the league. It's also useful to consider it in conjunction with a player's groundball/line drive/flyball tendencies.

Cueto in particular has been inducing many more groundballs this year than in his past. That has probably contributed to his low BABIP. If his GB% starts to trend the other way, his BABIP (and ERA) would seem likely to follow.

Just looked at the box score.

Edison Volquez is not a major league pitcher folks.

Was the Hamilton trade worse than the Milton signing? Only Reds fans get the joy of debating that one.

What a fucked up franchise.

What a fucked up franchise.

Only the Reds could trade away a crackhead and get something less in return.

That's a good way to put it.

Also, the fact the crackhead turned into a league MVP after he left should prove to anyone who still has doubts that God does indeed hate Cincinnati sports fans.

Fuck me sometimes I feel like pulling a Wolverine Mike and picking a new team. This shit just gets old.

it wouldn't be so hard to root for them if it looked like they were constantly trying, while the reds do seem to try a lot more than the bungals, they never seem to do that extra move or two that could put them over...this year prime example, so many holes, yet they are satisfied cause they are only 2 back and they think that's good enough

o good, arrendondo is in, game shouldn't last too much longer
