Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

one of the biggest differences I see in this year's team from last year, is the lack of clutch hitting, i believe they were in the top 2 last season in 2 out hits, this year, they can't get any, they are leaving an absurd amount of runners on base

Was just over on Yahoo making some roster changes to my shitty fantasy team and realized that with Bruce's torrid hitting streak during this road trip he's vaulted to #7 overall by Yahoo's Total Player Rank criteria. By Yahoo's metric, the Reds start 4 of the best 21 everyday position players in all of MLB: Bruce (6), Stubbs (12), Votto (13) and Phillips (21). They're 4 of the top 11 by NL only. Ramon would crack that list too if you projected him beyond his current 110 ABs (though he'd probably be less productive if he were overworked).

The team now sits 1st in R, 4th in BA, 3rd in OBP and 9th in SLG. If they were Boston or New York or Philly they'd place at least four players on the All Star team, and probably a fifth since Rolen will get votes based on his rep.

I can't believe how badly the rotation has blown up and how this team is dropping so many close games.

What kind of retard gets picked off 1st when there's a sac bunt on?

They lost this one on the basepaths. Janish went full retard on that play, and then they got hosed on a steal attempt by Votto and on the play at the plate.

All we need to start another lost decade is Marty blaming the whole thing on a position player that's actually good at his job because he jogs out onto the field.

Like the economists say..."It's the pitching stupid!"......and the scary part is aside from Chapman there is no reasonable hope for a TOR Ace anywhere in the organization that I am aware of (hopefully I haven't been keeping up with it well and am missing a few).

Top shelf pitching.....they will never be able to afford to buy it, so if they can't grow it, they won't have it.
