Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

I like listening to the cranky old bastard Marty ripping on Bud Selig and "Ol' Leatherpants". He's speculating that Selig might appoint Bowden to run the Dodgers.

I think if your team is insolvent because the owner is Ponzi-scheming futures-trading pariah, you should be saddled with a franchise-crippling front office when MLB has to step in.

I think it's bullshit that the Rangers went through bankruptcy proceedings last year and were still able to trade for Cliff Lee, while when the Reds had ownership turmoil back in the day they got stuck with John F. Allen.

Can they turn any of those guys into King Felix? :tongue2:

I'm actually hoping the Dodgers tank so bad that it forces a fire sale. Billingsley? Kershaw? Kemp? Yes please!

Fire sale! $1 Dodger Dogs! WOOT!

Totally with you all on BP right now. He finally was able to shut em up this series.

I've bee thinking about it all week and I have decided that Brandon Phillips is the best defensive player I've ever seen. Ozzie, Edmonds (when he was healthy: Angels) and Brandon Phillips in my lifetime are the best I've seen in the field. A younger Scott Rolen and Ken Caminitti at 3rd are also pretty damn good.

I'd edit this before the baseball gods see it. Even having Jim Edmonds' name next to Ozzie Smith is terms of defensive prowess is borderline criminal. Unless you count slowing down for the ball so you can dive for it 'good defense'.

btw....I hate Jim Edmonds.

Meh, I can understand your bias. Edmonds dive towards the wall-over the shoulder catch is possibly the best defensive play ever though. Freaking unbelievable! Also I'll give Edmonds a lot of credit for un-fucking Jay Bruce last season also. He's fragile and done now but the guy could ball at one time. I did reference the Angels years also not the other ones..........

Until JR hit the wall in Seattle, he was the best all around player I've ever seen, period. Imagine if he'd taken the steroids and was able to play past his injuries. There'd be very little talk of Bonds or anyone else for that matter. Damn shame his body fell apart.
