BTW, with that win the Rockies just passed StL for 3rd place in the Wild Card race (behind LA and NY), and they have Ubaldo going tomorrow pitching for the sweep.

Saw this over on RZ. Over the last year (July 10, 09 - present), Bronson Arroyo is:

16-9, 237IP, 2.84ERA, 1.15WHIP

I did a little bit more digging through the box scores, and if I'm counting correctly he's gone on 4-days rest or less three times, Cordero has vulched three of his wins, blown two saves, Ondrusek blew another, and the offense has scored 2 runs or fewer in eight games in which he was credited with a ND or a loss.

No wonder he paces so much and looks pissed off when Cordero comes in on his starts.

The Reds know it will take a lot to get Cliff Lee.

"It's going to take a ton," an insider said.

The Reds are in a good position because the Mariners reportedly want players close to major league-ready. Yonder Alonso, Todd Frazier, Juan Francisco all fit into that category. All three are blocked from getting into the starting lineup over the next two seasons. The Reds may also be willing to part with Travis Wood or Matt Maloney.

I do not get the sense that anything is in immediate offing. But Walt Jocketty and two of his top people, Bob Miller and Cam Bonifay, are on the trip. That is unusual.

I do not want to see Wood go as part of the deal. Really, I don't want to see Wood go at all, or Alonso and Frazier together (one or the other, but not both). Other than those two minor points ... pull the trigger Walt.
