Reds tidbits (2010 season)

Tonight was a perfectly good pitchers duel for about 6 innings, with lots of strategery like sac bunting, hitting and running, and all those other things they talk about in "small ball," up until the jackasses for the Reds decided to start drawing walks, clogging basepaths, and hitting rally killers. Jackasses could've won 3-2, but wound up winning 14-2 instead. Dusty must be furious.

The walks and subsequent base cloggage will definitely bother The Dusty but rally killers are the bane of the crappy left hander more so than Dusty.

Dusty can live with a rally killer as long as you were being aggressive and swung at the first pitch, that's the key...staying aggressive.

Domo Arrigato Mr. Joe Votto. Starting to be the Albert Pujols for the Reds. Only guy in the lineup you just cant afford to pitch to. Another win today. Think I'll have a beer for that one.

Leake just continues to keep on keeping on. The two out pitch to Colvin was one of very few bad ones today. Still another quality start from our #5 guy.

The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the Cub fans for spending their money here to see their crappy team.

I didn't get to see today's game, but last night's performance was something I thought that only the Reds were capable of. Walks, missed tags on baserunners that should've been out by a mile, booted grounders, a grand slam...

I'll gladly eat my words about Leake starting the season with the big club. He has far exceeded my expectations. He's been the most consistently solid player on this team so far this year.

I think Walt Jocketty's comment sums it up best - if they sent him down, what would they tell him to work on?

The cool thing is, if you asked 100 people about the possibility of a Reds pitcher winning the ROY, you would've had 100 people talking about Aroldis Chapman. Dare I say I'm cautiously optimistic about the Reds' pitching staff for the next 3-4 years because of both of those guys.

Now let's just hope they can actually beat the effing Pirates for a change!

The Reds just got bent over NBA style by the home plate ump. Gomes slid in ahead of the tag. The catcher tried to block, but Gomes was definitely in there. He was called out. It wasn't really even close.

I hope that doesn't come back to bite them in the ass as they try to close this one out.

This team is fun to watch...A mix of young guys and vets, solid hitting and pitching...

This is a team capable of sneaking out victories, but also a team capable of dropping a couple in a row if we get bad outings or low runs or bullpen wows...

Basically trying to say not a lot of room for error, but they are putting things together, lets hope they keep it up.

That was one of the worst home plate calls I've seen in a long time. Gomes was already halfway over the plate before the tag was applied.

I'd really like to see JC buckle down today and go the distance. He has the stuff he just hasnt quite got the mental thing down yet, imo. He has been our ace pretty much this season, and Leake, so getting this one for the series win is big. Love to return the favor and sweep the Pirates as well tomorrow.

One at a time........
