There's a thread on RZ saying Leake has been told he's being moved to the bullpen.
Obviously something was going to happen to limit his innings. I would have preferred that he be sent down to stall his service time and arb eligibility, but that would have also made him unavailable for the postseason (*knock on wood). Let's hope he's kind enough to repay the Reds in the future for making a move that will cost them some money down the road.
On the other hand, having him in the bullpen is not necessarily a bad thing. I think he can contribute there, and I also think he should be used as a pinch hitter. I know some people balk at the idea, but all this year he's been getting on base at a better clip than some of the "professional hitters" on the bench. In truth he's probably not actually better, but I say get as much out of him at the plate as you can before he turns into a pumpkin with the bat.
