Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

Another thing that pisses me off... This time every year Arroyo goes out and absolutely torpedoes his trade value. Then once the deadline passes he starts pitching sub-4.25 and wins 7 of 8 decisions to close the year.

I hope the Reds can unload him and get something worth a damn in return. Although I'm afraid that even if they do they'll find a way to give that $12 million or whatever it is to one or more Willy Taverases.

I really wish Dustball would hit Dickerson leadoff and Hanigan 2nd so Votto could actually hit with someone on base. Taveras and Hairston 1 & 2 is just a joke. Hairston was actually starting hit the ball very well down in the order and Dusty for some reason felt inclined to move him back to the # 2 hole tonight. That's the Toothpick for ya.

CF bats #1. SS bats #2. Its in the book.

Since it worked brilliantly last night, Dusty is rolling out the same lineup again tonight.

Taveras 8
Hairston 6
Votto 3
Phillips 4
Gomes 7
Hernandez 2
Bruce 9
Encarnacion 5
Harang 1

Also: "Today the Reds are expected to recall from Louisville RHP Robert Manuel (#60). When he pitches he will make his Major League debut. A corresponding roster move will be announced prior to gametime."

All aboard the fail boat. The Reds made it to July .500.

Baby steps, people.

Yeah. I was against blowing it up and was thinking the Reds were only a couple of bats away just a week ago. But even my optimistic ass can't polish a 22-1 turd like last night.

Is that lineup terrible? No not with a lefty on the mound...but to have WT leadoff and Hairston in the 2 hole is what kills the lineup...

And why can't Hanigan get some more time I think he has earned it...

.02:
-Had someone shown me this lineup in March and bet me the Reds would only be 1 game under .500 on July 7th they'd have made a lot of money.

-If Tavaras/JHJ batting 1-2 with Bruce/EE 7-8 doesn't tell you something is really fucked up with this team nothing ever will.

Reds have the 3rd worst run differential in the NL and somehow .500. Yes, the 21 run difference yesterday inflates that. Yet it still pretty much shows the Reds have been getting lucky.

Sadly I think it will be another year with the Reds as sellers. Harang, Weathers, and Rhodes can all be sold for some good players. Arroyo wouldn't even be worth some used jock straps. They need to just put him on the DL with some made up injury (blaming his poor pitching on said made up injury) and hope they can sucker someone into trading for him this offseason.

I won't be sad if they are sellers. I'll be sad if they are dumb enough to be buyers and over pay for some mid level schmuck who isn't enough to help by himself.

Sign me up for that Harang to LA for Kemp trade rumor all day long and twice on Sunday.

I read those too and I call shenanigans.

Probably. It would require a FO to be 180 degrees in opposite thinking of what I fear ours is.

They are looking around for a scrappy vet that can play multiple positions and knows how to win. Professional at bats from the right side are also high on the list.

I'm telling you guys, look for Rich Aurilia or a close proximity to show up soon for a gaggle of prospects going the other way. These fuckers are on a completely different planet in how they perceive this team.

Whoever it is, he better be a "consumate professional" or I am going to be fucking pissed. I don't want guys hanging around that aren't "consumate professionals".

What if he's a gamer instead?

And, Farney got traded for the third time this year the other day - this time to the Royals. Odds he's back in Cincy by the end of the season?
