If the D-backs want to trade Byrnes it won't be to get rid of the contract - they're gonna have to eat most of that thing.

Reds fans should understand this since they have sucked for about 20 years now.

BTW...on the bean I assume you were watching the Arizona broadcast. I just watched it on MLB.tv and they really blew that out of proportion. It was a ball that got away from Owings. You don't plunk a scrub who in the leadoff hitter in a 3 run game. Besides, if the hitter backed off the pitch instead of turning his back he would not have been hit. If that was a bean, Owings did it poorly, picked a bad time, and picked a poor batter.

It's been reported differently that Hernandez had or had not played 1B before. According to Baseball Reference though, prior to this year he'd played 1B at some point in seven different games, but with only one start. He'd never done it more than twice in any single season, and here it's mid-May and he's already got seven starts at 1B for the Reds.jlb1705;1466463; said:Also, did I see somebody say that Ramon Hernandez had NEVER played 1B before? Regardless, he is more than holding his own defensively there. I never gave much thought to who our backup 1B would be this year until I showed up that the ballpark one night and Votto wasn't in there. Hernandez has been a pleasant surprise.
