Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

BTW...anyone see the ESPN report on early steroid use in baseball, and the Reds trainer Star (missed his first name). He mentioned the first time he saw it was in 1984 when a double A player suddenly jumped from 169 to 195.

One player this seems to fit is Eric Davis (the first player I thought of). He was is AA the year before, and played at about 190 with the Reds in 1984. He did become a star pretty quick, and then had lots of injuries.

I also could not find another player that matched those facts. Never thought of Davis as a roids user, but he did have an uncanny mix of speed and power (only surpassed by Bonds and Canseco...hmmm).

edit1: Oops 2009 thread
edit2: Couldn't find a better thread

Eric Davis wasn't a roid user. The only thing that really points to possible roid use was his power, but look at the player....his wrists were probably the quickest pair since Hank Aaron. Had he not been injured and afflicted with Cancer he might have gotten to the Hall...

The Reds are playing the Chicago White Sox, Obama’s favorite team, in the game.

“We sent a letter signed by (Commissioner) Bud Selig and myself,” Reds CEO Bob Castellini said. “We’re hopeful. We haven’t heard yet.”

Votto just crushed one, and I mean crushed one off Jake Peavy in the WBC.

We need Votto/EE/Bruce to become a legit middle of the order threat (and Dusty to be smart enough to stop batting BP 4th but one thing at a time).

PECOTA expects big things from Votto this year, lets hope he stays healthy.

You mean a veteran presence in the clubhouse, who knows how to win and will give you a professional at bat?

He's a consummate professional, jax. Not scrappy enough to win my approval, though. :shake:

He's just a ball player. Some guys are tools guys, he's just a ball player. Not everything he does to help the club shows up on the stat sheet.
