Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

I doubt he ever sees the light of day at the MLB level but then again, one thing The Dusty knows is you can never have enough fast guys who play multiple positions and keep the bases unclogged.

He's gonna have to bring that OBP down about sixty points if he ever wants to find himself on Dusty's lineup card.

I figured I'd post this for Jaxbuck, and just get out of the way:

Prior to tonight's game, Adam Rosales received the Heart & Hustle Award from first base coach Billy Hatcher.

The transformation into a little league team is now official. We are handing out "You suck but you try hard awards" to all the kids so everyone gets something to show for a lost season.

My list for some of the rest of the team:

The "Ahmad Abdul-Rahim" award for the scrawny black kid who thinks he's Hank Aaron but isn't quite there yet goes to Brandon Phillips.

The "Kelly Tanner" goes to Votto for being the only decent player on a team full of fucking rejects.

The "Timmy Lupus" goes to Willy Tavaras for being the worst player on the team and overall just a booger eating crud.

I'm sure we could think of more but that should cover a few more nights at the ballpark.

We have 50 wins... (50-67)...45 games left

We are the 6th worse team in MLB right now. The team is young, and in Sept I truly hope for the young guys in AAA to come up and play, guys like Stubbs, Heisey, Francisco, young pitchers, maybe Alonso...etc...

  1. San Diego (49-70)....2 GB
  2. Baltimore - (48-69)....2 GB
  3. Pittsburg (46-70)....3.5 GB
  4. KC - (46-71)....4 GB
  5. Washington (43-75)....7.5 GB
So lets say we continue to tank this season...Guys continue to get hurt...We continue to play young guys, I don't think we are going to turn anything around.

So there is a chance that we end up getting rid of Dusty at the end of the season...We get a top draft pick next year, we contniue to dip into the latin leagues, getting young talent...

This season tanking could very well be a good thing for us, because when healthy this team is not a terrible team this year...probably a team that wins 80-85 games if we stay healthy all season...

So add in a guy like Rolen, some more young talent, and guys healthy, and cut ties with WT, and really things are looking up for next season, probably more so in the 2nd half of next year, and into 2011, if the right cards are played...

When's the last time you saw this franchise play their cards right?

The Reds are a franchise that is completely afraid of telling its fanbase that they need to rebuild to become good again.

Cut ties on this season, and hope they can compete some the beginning of next year, because 2010 (half way through and beyond) with a healthy team, a new manager, and young team they should be fun to watch..If we don't continue putting stiffs out there like Agon, WT, Corey Patterson, Hairston...I will stop there...

But we have arms in the rotation...Struggling right now, but with a rotation of Cueto, Harang, Arroyo, Bailey, Owings, throw in some young guys, and then Volquez hopefully can recover...and lots of young arms in the pen...

The Giants started some tiny dude with long hair tonight, he'll be lucky to stick in the majors with performances like this one. Figures the Reds beat up on the no-names.

First he IBB'd Hanigan to load the bases for Janish with one out, and this scrub walks Paul flippin' Janish... on 4 pitches. Homerun Bailey promptly steps up and singles down the line, adding 2 more.. it is now Reds 4, Giants 0 after 2.

But if you saw who was pitching for SF, you'd know that the Reds are just beating up on a nobody. Lame.
