Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

That was only because they were the only team giving him an offer. There was no need for them to offer the extra $$. Btw, the Dodgers brought in $211 mil in revenue last year. I think they have room to add on a few dollars to their salary.

No, probably not. I think you're wishing again.

I very seriously doubt the Dodgers are going to give up anyone near major league ready to the Reds for Arroyo and they certainly won't for Harang or Cordero.

The Angels seem more likely too looking at their situation, but they don't need a closer and I don't think Arroyo would fit in with Scioscia.

What is wrong with me? Why am I watching this? I have books to read. I have movies to watch. I have television shows DVR'ed. And I'm watching this.

I am a sick, sick puppy. :bonk:

Agreed.

Cordero/Arroyo/Harang have contracts that mean the other team takes on salary or sends prospects, not both. You don't get near MLB ready and salary relief for players of their caliber and cost.

Weathers, Rhodes and Hernandez if healthy are the guys you can get some decent prospects for. The others will probably have to be done after July 31 or during the off season.

FWIW if we were able to swap any of our bullpen guys for Ethan Martin I'll start getting off Walts ass about Tavaras (a little).:wink2:

Just flipped over and saw the score. Glad I spent the last half hour watching Alton Brown make French Toast on Food Network.

I watched the 2nd and 3rd innings last night before I fell asleep. Welsh said exactly what I was thinking, Bailey was not being aggressive at all. He was clearly trying to place his pitches rather than throw him. When he starts taking something off his pitches to get them over, he gets hammered. Until he gets more consistent with his control, we'll see more an more of this. On a positive note, from all accounts his attitude is much improved and he's more willing to work on things. Basically, he's got Nuke LaLoosh syndrome and it appears he's more like Nuke at the end of the movie than the end. Unfortunately that probably means he still needs to get his brains beat in a bit before he puts it all together and hopefully it doesn't break his confidence.

So he's Nuke before he was Nuke?
