Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

The Padres catcher hits David Ross's bat trying to throw to third on a steal attempt. What are the odds of that? Not hitting a bat in that situation, but of a ball hitting Ross's bat? That bat of his is getting more action tonight than it'll get the rest of the year.

Heres the question, can Belisle pull it together to win the series tommrow.

I don't care if Greg Maddox is 110 years old, I don't like the matchup with Belisle for us. Shitty part is if we need to take this game to have a fighting chance at .500 by June.

Phillips shot to center, griffey runs to third, third baseman misses throw, he would have been out

Hey Jax, if your in Florida how are you watching the reds game?

Modern advances in this new technology called sattelite allow you to see games being brodcast all over the world.

I just hope they don't catch on and start charging us sports fans a lot of extra money for "packages" of games like MLB or College Football.

Reds up by 1 in 7th despite the usual fantastic start for Belisle. 4 1/3, 5 ER. His ERA actually went up. Bailey cannot do worse than him.

I don't think that's the important distinction re: Bailey. Here's where I'd start:
  • Can he do better (as opposed to "no worse") than Belisle right now?
  • If not, is it possible he could do better than that after more time in AAA?
  • Is his trade value in the relatively near future maximized with him in AAA or Cincinnati?
I think all those things are worth considering before bringing up a guy like Bailey when it's a strong possibility he will only duplicate what Belisle's doing...

Sonofabitch. C'mon, Stormy!

:smash::smash::smash: Why is it that every single time I watch a game and see Weathers pitch with a lead he gives up a crucial homer? I know some people love the fact that he shows some competitive fire unlike other players, but I'm pretty damn sick of seeing his post-HR expression that's become all too familiar.

They've got Volquez warming up now, and to hear Grande & Welsh talk about it, he was eager to get in there earlier in extra innings. I like that he has that attitude, but I think I'd rather have a position player in there than Volquez on 1 day of rest. This single game is not more important than the health of Edinson's arm.

Harang is a freakin' HORSE. Three shutout innings, has struck out six straight batters and counting, on two days' rest.

It's a shame the fans in Cincinnati don't revere him like they do guys like Ryan Freel and Pete Rose. He spills his guts for this team, and he's a far better player than Freel and a better person than Rose.

I don't think this is what Ernie Banks meant by "Let's play two."

I think the Reds are out of position players now after Bako hit for Harang last inning.

Belisle, Lincoln, Affeldt, Weathers, Cordero, Fogg & Bray combined: 11 IP, 8 strikeouts.
Harang: 4 IP, 9 strikeouts.
