Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

OK, I know its probably a rain out(let's pray it is at least) but here is Dustys lineup for tonight.

No this is not a joke.

Hairston 2B
Freel RF
Patterson CF
Votto 1B
Encarnacion 3B
Dunn LF
Keppinger SS
Bako C
Belisle P

I refuse to watch that. I've been cutting Dusty some slack but this tears it, he's in the Boone, Miley, Narron category now. This is up there with Miley sitting JR and Dunn in Coors for Freel and Aurilia.

Patterson should never bat third for any MLB team ever...ever.

Fuck these bastards and fuck this know nothing, dipshit, pussnut, dicklicking front office that runs moron's like Dusty through here every 2 years.

I should have stuck to my guns and became a free agent when they hired Dusty like I said I would. What the fuck do you get for your loyalty to these incompetent fucks? Another 90+ loss season and then watch them fuck up every single chance to get better.

The GM should be able to go down stairs and fire any cocksucking manager the minute he sees a lineup card filled out like that. Fuck this shit.

FWIW, I was just checking my fantasy team and saw that Griffey was a last minute scratch due to "illness." I suppose that is more of an explanation than an excuse. I agree, it doesn't matter the circumstances... why isn't Kepp hitting in the 1 or 2 hole?

I am assuming the reason for Griffey not being in the lineup, was due to the weather...So that only problem I have with that lineup is Patterson in the 3 hole...Not sure what he would be thinking with that at all...Maybe that is where the dart stuck on the dartboard...

As for the pitching matchups...The guy throwing against Belisle has a mid 5 ERA, Santana is a tough matchup no matter who he is going against, and as bucky showed we have done fairly well against Perez the last couple years...

Keep the faith a little longer...

Just looking at the schedule in advance, and peeked at the month of June schedule...If we are anywhere close to .500 after June this team needs to get some love...

We finish a series with ATL with 1 game at home, before going on an 8 game road trip with 4 game sets with Philly and Florida, two of the top 4 teams in the NL...

Then come home for 9...Against who you say...3 with STL, 3 with Bos, and 3 with LA Dogers...

Then it gets even better...Back to the road for 9...who with...3 with the Yanks, 3 with the Blue Jays, and 3 with the Indians...

Then finish the month off with 1 at home against the Pirates...

Every team is in the top 2 in their division, other than the games agasint ATL and and Pitt, which are only 1 game a piece in June, and also the Yanks, Blue Jays, and Indians, but by the time June rolls around and the Reds come to town in interleague play, they will either be ready to explode against the reds or already have exploded and just pound the reds...

I would think 11-17 would be lucky, and that is not a good record...We might be lucky to get 10 wins in the month of June...

Stats show fielding flaws
Traditional figures look OK, but advanced metrics don't

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI -- Bronson Arroyo carried his 8.63 ERA and a smile into the Reds clubhouse the past three days. He insists he feels as healthy and strong as ever, so he is going about his business the same as always.
"I don't have one ache, not even a headache," he said. "There's nothing I can complain about."
He could complain about defense, but it is not his nature. And it might not resonate, anyway.

-You want to see awful look at anything grading the range/zone of our corner OF.

-Take the defensive stats however you want to but the basic concept of how many balls put in play that turn into hits or errors, if taken in a large enough sample size, speaks volumes.

-Range wise EE has to be up there among the best, his throwing errors obviously kill him overall.

-Doesn't suprise me in the least that Dusty just looks at Fielding % and says we are ok.

I wonder though, what are his choices, this team has enough problems without their manager coming out and saying, "our hitting stinks, and our clutch hitting is worse than that, our fielding stinks as well, what do you fans expect out of me when management gives me this bunch of bums to work with, miracles?"

I am depressed with the poor start, and the poor performance out of Griffey and Dunn, but there is a bright spot with the pitching, EV has been excellent, AH has as well, just no offensive help and JQ shows much promise. If the Reds could just put some runs up consistently, they could be pretty good. Hopefully some warmer weather helps Griffey, and Dunner and the Cards remember that they are in the NL Central and are supposed to stink as well.

Have you seen anything from Dusty that gives you confidence he really knows what he's doing but is just covering for his guys in the press?

The insane lineup reputation has turned out to not be the myth everyone hoped for. Thats a fact.

He just stretched EV out to 120-130 some odd pitches in a 9-0 ballgame. That supposed myth will be the next to fall and our promising young arms will pay the price.

I don't blame Dusty for being Dusty, I blame to the dumb fuck owner who thought it would be a good idea to bring in Dusty Baker to manage this kind of team.

Fucking Bullshit calls.

Baker comes out and argues a bit then walks away. He should have blown a fucking gasket.

He should be in the dougout punching himself in the face for that decision to bring the infield in that cost us 2 runs.

Once it was 4-0 Mets with Santana on the mound I turned it off. Thats all I needed to see. Bullpen is going to get worked hard today.

The most telling stat today and the epitome of the entire season are these:

Mets 7 hits and 6 runs.

Reds 10 hits and 3 runs.

Once again we out hit them and score half as many.

yeah, that and the 12 runs they ended up scoring once our pen got involved.

This team is nowhere near as fixed on the pitching side as some think.
