Arroyo ineffective, hitters fail in key situations for sixth loss in seven games

CINCINNATI -- Two days ago, Brandon Phillips gripped the bat so tightly he could've turned the handle to sawdust. The Reds were mired in a losing streak, and the harder he tried to hit them out of it, the worse he played. He was not alone.
"We want to win too much, instead of just playing the game natural, the way we always played it," he said. "I'm not going to lie to you, I was trying to do too much."
Phillips seemed more relaxed last night, and it showed in his play. Unfortunately for the Reds, he was all but alone, and they lost 5-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers, their sixth loss in the past seven games.
