Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

and just to add insult to injury, Dusty puts Hopper in LF for Dunn but leaves CP in center.

So if we somehow tie this game up we now have our single biggest threat to end the game on the bench with 2 automatic outs in the lineup.

This is really WK's fault for not having any better alternative to choose from off the bench than Norris F Hopper.

This is just disgusting.....Bill Hall isn't a MLB player without his numbers against the Reds. Other Reds killers are good players and put up decent numebrs against everyone. This guy can barely hit his weight against anyone but us.

Have I mentioned the bullpen is suspect? They are.

It doesn't matter how bad the bullpen is...When you only can muster 4 hits in 10 innings you aren't going to win many games...Weathers got squeezed a couple times and that hurt him...

Just frustrating that it always seem like Wash rinse repeat...No offense , bullpen blows game, and there is one player that hurts us...

This team and more specifically this franchise makes me sick to my fucking stomach.

Natural born losers, the young kids who aren't yet soon will be.

Completely hopless to be a fan of these gutless cocksuckers.

The wash rinse repeat is that somehow, someway they will find a way to lose more often than not. 13 years in a row of this garbage, only one was even close to good.

I am really thinking that it might be Jay Bruce time soon...We can't continue to have this shit from Patterson...And someone tell the announcers that the answer is not Norris Hopper...

I just hope someone tells WK and Dusty. They are the ones who don't seem to get it.

There is a lot of dumb shit posted on here...(usual fan rants, whatnot), but this statement made me chuckle out of pure stupidity.

Not only is he a legit MLB player - he might be one of the more versatile players too. Played 2B, SS, 3B, CF and 3B again. Plus threw up a 900 ops 2 years ago. All the while juggling new starting assignments each year. Yeah, you would take him I think.

.900 2 years ago, well I'll be damned.

That is impressive except for the fact he has never had a .900 or better OPS for a season. BTW his career mark is 787. 21% of his career HR's are against the Reds and 16% of his career RBI's are against the Reds.

As a point of reference, Ryan Freel plays just as many positions and has a career .733 and you can keep them both.

Yeah booooiiiee.

Brewers 5 | Reds 3, 10 innings
Weathers gets good news after loss

The Columbus Dispatch

CINCINNATI -- The Reds lost two players to tempers yesterday and lost another game to Bill Hall and the Milwaukee Brewers. It could have been worse. For a time, they feared they lost a pitcher, too.
David Weathers, the team's most dependable reliever in recent years, allowed a two-run double to Hall in the 10th inning that accounted for the final runs in a 5-3 Brewers win. Later in the inning, he threw a slider to Gabe Kapler that caused a burning sensation in his elbow.

Hall is hitting .313 with 52 RBI and a .641 slugging percentage in 77 career games against the Reds, .256 with a .446 slugging percentage against the rest of the league.

Ryan Freels career line is .270 with a .376 slugging percentage. Like you said, same level of player one has a little more pop the other is more of a contact guy. Bottom line for both is that they play 5-6 positions because they aren't good enough to lay claim to one.

Obviously I was being emotional when I said he isn't MLB quality against anyone but the Reds. However the point is obvious to anyone who who doesn't run around saying "#2 for life" and flashing Milwaukee gang symbols. Hall is a lower level MLB ballplayer who's performance against one particular team is so far outside of his career norms its rediculous.

Other Reds killers are guys like Pujols, Berkman, Ryan Howard etc. They are top shelf MLB level players and put up big numbers against everyone so its easier to take. If Ryan Freel turned into Albert Pujols every time he played the Brewers I'm sure there would be some mention of it among the Brewer faithful.
