Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

At this point I'm suprised by nothing. No one in the organization will stomach a true rebuilding campaign which is what contending will take. I expect at least a a quick fix trade with Votto and Bailey for Jesse Orosco

Throw in Julio Franco with Orosco or no deal.

A colleague of mine is giving serious consideration to being a Reds fan. I think he's making a foolish mistake. Especially for a young fella like himself. Any advice on how I can get him to come to his senses?

Shoot him in the back of the head. He'll thank you later.

Tell him to stand feet shoulder width apart.

Then have him try and reach the ceiling with both hands.

Once he's up on his tip toes as high as he can reach....kick him square in the nuts. As he writhes on the ground in agony with snot bubbling from his nose ask him if he wants 80-90 more just like it.

If he does, he has what it takes to be a Reds fan. If one was enough he should look elsewhere.

Willy Taveras of the Rockies steals third base by beating a tag from Edwin Encarnacion.

CINCINNATI -- Hamilton native Aaron Cook left the Cincinnati Reds with a sinking feeling last night in Great American Ball Park, a sinkerball that had the Reds pounding the ball into the dirt like kids with a plastic shovel in a sandbox.
Nine of Cook's first 10 outs were ground balls and the other was a strikeout as he pitched the sizzling Colorado Rockies to their seventh win in eight games since the All-Star break, 7-2.
