Reds hitters work over Santana, but Cordero can't hold on to lead in nightmarish ninth

Johnny Cueto struck out the first five batters he faced, but he was unable to hold a 5-2 lead.
CINCINNATI -- The Reds fought two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana for four innings last night, then scratched and clawed against the New York Mets bullpen. There was no poetry in their game but admirable amounts of patience and power.
It will serve them well over time. But first they need to get their breath back.
For all the blows they landed last night, the Reds were floored by a gut shot in the ninth inning. Closer Francisco Cordero allowed six straight hits and four runs, including a two-run home run to David Wright, as the Mets overwhelmed the Reds 10-8 to start the unofficial second half of the season.
"That hurts big time because we played so hard, we fought," manager Dusty Baker said.

Now, I really don't think the Reds should put him on the block-there are plenty of young arms in the minors-unless thye can get a legit leadoff hitter in exchange for him-I have Hairston on my fantasy team ,but I'm just riding the wave, and I think Reds management is thinking the same.
