Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Losing Hairston is gonna suck. Hopefully the MRI tomorrow is negative and he just needs some rest. There is a clear difference in this team's results when he's in the lineup.

Reds open second half against Mets, Santana

Hairston has mild strain
Jerry Hairston Jr., who left Sunday's game against Milwaukee after he beat out a bunt in the third inning and was carried off the field, has a mild right hamstring strain, according to the MRI performed earlier this week.

Adam Dunn is a better Rob Deer. Trade/move high salary vets and begin youth movement around the core of Bruce/Votto/Phillips

Don't know who Rob Deer is, but I agree on moving Dunn...I would take a young starter/reliever with a young catcher/SS/CF in return...

Some more guys to build around...Follow Billy Beane's footsteps...

Rob Deer Statistics - Baseball-Reference.com

Essentially the same guy although Dunn walks a LOT more and maybe has a bit more power....oddly enough Deer made his MLB debut against the Reds.

Anyway, Dunn should be moved as should Griffey if at all possible. Hell if they get a bag of batting practice baseballs for Griffey that would be a good thing IMO. This franchise will NOT move forward until he is out of the picture. It's a bad thing to say but he isn't anywhere near the player he once was and he was never the type of leader this teams needs anyway.
