Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

I've kinda come around to the idea of BP in the 4-hole against LHP. He absolutely kills it. The problem is, he has the plate approach of a #8 hitter, so sometimes he's gonna ground out on the first pitch even when he's up there in a favorable match-up. That's where it gets frustrating.

Thats why I say sell high, we'll miss his defense more than his bat. His plate discipline, or lack thereof, would have him an ex member of any team I was running.

Obviously the return has to be there, you don't just give him away but if he lands you a solution at one or more of our many other problem area's then we have the worlds supply of guys who could play 2B and give you a decent replacement of his bat.

I would also like to add that Hairston has been a revelation this season. I fully expected him to stink again coming back from the DL, instead, he has just continued his hot hitting.

All that's left is for this numbskull organization to sign him for 3yrs./$20 million.

Why not bring in a coach with a brain and explain to him the ropes...No reason to just try and get rid of him...He is a great 2nd baseman...His numbers and defense put him in the top 5 in the league...If he would just take a pitch, the coach would put him in the 6 hole, we would really be on to something...

Griffey is full on ready for the DH role. He tore it up last week as the DH and he came off the bench last night to homer and win it. Its time for him to be thrust into that position and go get a pennant with someone else who can use him.

The lineup last night is the one we should have the best chance of winning with. I do like Bruce in the 3 hole but followed by Dunn, Phillips,Votto and E5. I've never like BP in the 4, like most other people and I dont necessarily care about the R/L/R/L thing that our managers seem to get stuck on. We can make some headway this week if they dont screw this up and give us a chance to knock off the Cubbies to really gain in the division after the All-Star break. Its a huge uphill climb but its not out of the question with our pitching to steal a WC berth at the end.

Don't do it, BB36. Don't start following closely again. They're just trying to pull you back towards them so they can kick you in the nuts. Again. Keep your distance. Stay out of their range. They might clip you with an occasional blow as you circle them warily, but no death blows will be suffered. Nothing that will make you curl up in the fetal position and puke.

Conniving, evil bastards.

No shit...I have been casually watching the last 4 or 5 games...We finally had our first winning road trip since last year...We are actually a fully healthy team right now...knock on wood, and we are fun to watch at tiems when you don't have to see Corey Patterson in the leadoff spot, or rag tag arms coming out of the pen, etc...

I am not getting my hopes up in terms of coming back in the race, but it is refreshing to see a solid product the past week or so...

Tigers don't change their stripes at the MLB level. He will come out of the dugout hacking no matter what. It would be nice if a manager with a brain was there to use him more wisely instead of actaully encouraging that shit.

I saw a quote from Dusty where he blamed the Reds team offensive woes on strikeouts. Quick perusual of the stat sheet shows the Cubs have the highest run scoring team in the NL while striking out the most. Hmmmmm.

Could it be that there is no correlation whatsoever bewteen K's and run scoring? Seems I recall hearing that somewhere a few times in defending Dunn against idiots like Marty and Thom.

Bottom line is that I really want to like Dusty. I think he's a good club house guy and I like what I see from his handling of the kids but he just keeps opening his mouth and reminding me of what a complete and utter moron he really is.

Right this is what I want, and a guy that doesn't encourage it...Phillips is truly a very good all-around player...His only flaw is he is a hacker...If he were to ever take pitches here and there, and be solid to gaps, instead of always swinging so damn hard for the fences, especially when he goes into slumps he could turn himself into an MVP type player...30/30 ability with gold glove caliber defense...That type of stuff doesn't come around very often...His OPS right now is at .805 and that is with the 11th best OBP % on the team...If he could up his OBP by seeing pitches taking walks and becoming a better eye at the plate, he would be one of the most feared hitters in our lineup...

As for Dusty the game has passed him by...

There you go again.

Seriously, don't get your hopes up.

Fuck that asshole!

I'm so sick of seeing umpires/referees getting involved in the game they are supposed to be officiating.

Then he ejects Edwin that fast? Bullshit.

Fuck you too Dusty. You have to make a case for your guy stronger than that. It wont change the outcome but he has to support his guy stronger than that.

I never let my hopes go down. Thats what gives me the right to complain about the team when they fuck up.

I'm happier at times more than others but there is always a glimmer of hope until they are mathematically eliminated.

Its my fault.

I was watching every pitch of the entire game up to that point.

Young team lost its focus once the ump squeezed Volquez in the Bay at bat. Then Bruce and EE make mistakes to compound it. All the while 3 runs might as well be 20 against this anemic sick fuck of a mess Dusty runs out there as his lineup.
