Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Edinson Volquez is the Cy Young award winner and there should be no debate. I know Brandon Webb is a hell of a pitcher having a great year as well but come on. If he can do what he's doing on this piece of shit baseball team he should not only win this year but automatically win it again next year! Edinson, you're the fucking man buddy.

I dont know about anyone else but I'm glad the Toronto dipshit of a GM is pissing Adam Dunn off. Whats that old saying, "let a sleeping dog lie"? Well he isnt asleep any longer and I hope he goes on a tear. Either we will win some games or more teams will want to trade for him.

Come on Daryl Thompson.

Patterson is still on the roster I see.....:!

A sure sign that you've got a shitty team is when you are playing the Yankees and even MLB wont pick up your game. :shake:

Anyone around today to do a game thread?

Let me end it for you in 2 innings.

1st inning:
Reds batting vs no name journyman pitcher fresh up from the minors end the top of the first after seeing only 8 pitches.

Yankees come out with a plan vs a young pitcher and see 20+ pitches in the bottom of the first even though they don't score.

2nd inning:

Rinse lather repeat for the Reds

The yankees keep grinding(30 more pitches for Thompson) and get the bases loaded with no one out before I turn it off.

1 team has a clue offensivly, the other does not.

You are absolutely correct about the beginning of this one. I got a free trial of mlb.tv so I'm watching it now.

Great play by E5 to end the last inning which was actually puzzling. Thompson gets pulled after 5 shutout innings. He worked himself out of quite a few spots this game. The word is he has a great curveball but yet again another young pitcher comes up to the league and does not use the breaking pitch. Whose fault is this? Bako? Baker? Pole? It needs to stop, now.

Bray comes in and gets em 1-2-3.

That young guy for the Yanks has some brutal stuff. Great breaking ball. Excellent location on his fastball, the ump is giving him a whole lot of help though. You can definitely tell they are in New York.

Still 0-0 after 6. Griff leads off the 7th with a hit.

Hell yeah! E5 with a 2 run single. Bray, Burton and Cordero for the win.

Its far from over at the moment.

Great outing by Giese. That slider is nigh unhittable where he's putting it. New pitcher coming for the Yanks.

If this were any sort of possibility, Harang would have won it last year.

Unless the Reds put up some sort of respectable numbers in the 2nd half, he likely won't even be top 3.

You're probably right and Harang had a very deserving year last year, but the numbers on Volquez are insane right now and he's basically a rook.

Yanks 2 on 1 out. Burton coming in for Bray.

He's tracking 20+ wins and to lead the NL in ERA and K's (iirc). I would say it would be impossible to not be top 3 untill I recall the horse fucking Harang took.

Who knows, I'm just glad we've got him.

OH fuck, its Stormy Weathers time.
