The funny thing was that there was actually talk on the telecast about what a Reds fan has had to go thru the past 7 years...I missed what they actually said, but the fact that they put it out there and actually made it a topic of discussion lets you know that it is bad...Very bad...

Herbie talks about this topic a lot on 1460. Well, not so much any more. He gave up on the Reds before the middle of May this year. He was pissed he didn't get to at least the All Star break.

Edit: Come to think of it, it may have been as early as late April.. I don't recall.

You know the worst thing about it? The most galling part of it all?

Its not just the losing, it's not all the stupid mental mistakes, its not 4 managers in a row that are borderline legally retarded, its not GM's going and getting the Corey Pattersons of the world.

Its the fact that I have to listen to George fucking Grande night in and night out on top of all the losing. Fuck water tables, being a Reds fan the past 7-10 years is real torture.

I dont care what you say about age and "more time to get it back" but they've totally fucked up Homer Bailey. I dont know all the details but its easy to see with my own two eyes that he's not the same pitcher he was when first on the scene. Could it be the losing mentality has already reached AAA? God I hope not but these guys need to learn how to win and fast. For a change I'd like to see some guys out there throwing their helmet into the dugout after making a stupid play. Kick the damn water bucket over once in a while after you give up back-to-back game changing homers. Do something. Volquez has it. Cueto has it. Brandon Phillips at least shows some life from time to time. These guys have to start to hate losing before they'll enjoy winning enough to want to do it every time out there theres no two ways about it. I dont care what anybody says about them being "professionals" and all of that other crap. Its bullshit! Until they want to win more than they do right now they continue to lose, plain and simple. The whole losers mentality thing is dead on and its freakin contagious.

It's not pure agony, it's more like morbid curiosity; a guilty pleasure. You have to love something to agonize over it failing to meet expectations. It's hard to love the Reds these days.

Like that high school sweetheart you had a crush on and kept going back to even though she was a stupid bitch that you couldn't tolerate being around for more than a few hours before you realized how much you hated her. So you'd leave, find something else to do for a few days, then go running back to her just to dump her again.
